The reactions can be temperamental, like you've shown us. Usually there's a negative moodlet, but maybe the moodlet was buried under a whole heap of "nicely decorated" and "feeling great" happy moodlets? If so, then I recommend a mod that disables those moodlets. Makes the game much more interesting and I *do not* miss those excessive happy buffs one bit. I feel like reactions should function separately from moodlets.
edit: just seen you've mentioned moodlets.
I miss the more random events - especially with death. However, death seems to be more controllable now and less random, which is possibly apart of the design and may be welcome to players who want more control.
I loved TS2 reactions. Drama for days. I just didn't like it how Sims would react to a cheating spouse's woohoo if they were nowhere near the Sim doing the cheating.
