That is a very interesting back story for Johnny. I've never run across it. (I've played Sims since the beginning, but got into it most as more detailed building was incorporated, CAW, etc.)
I first noticed Johnny when James, The Sim Supply's, first Sims 4 LP character, Aluna, met him and got married. I recently started out a young entertainer Sim, Jordan, in the same neighborhood. Johnny was at the door first thing with fruitcake, and they quite easily became friends. He came over faithfully, but not stalker-ishly, and established himself as a good sort by cleaning up, doing little thoughtful things autonomously, etc. I don't know if the fact that they were coworkers helped, but it required fairly little effort on my part for the friendship to zoom up and stay there. They don't have any common traits--she's Perfectionist, Cheerful, Music Lover and a Muser; he's Gregarious, Ambitious, Goofball and Outgoing. She's a musician and he's a comic.
She had almost friend zoned him due to his rather odd fashion sense and unflattering hairstyle, but we gave him a makeover in those areas. He still dresses a bit flamboyantly, Jordan just had to teach him snazzy versus tacky. He rolled a wish to buy athletic equipment. Next thing you know, a romantic interaction popped up in the menu, and there's been no stopping them since. The "Ask To Move In" option popped up continually, so we gave in, since he'd gotten quite dishy with the new hairstyle and physique. He gets promoted pretty easily. They hadn't yet woohooed, but we remedied that. (Turns out, tho, you can't woohoo in a tent in Sylvan Glade, so they had to come home.) Life went by a while quite smoothly. Of course, then they rolled the Get Married, and Propose Whims. So when they both wanted to go on vacation to Granite Falls, he popped out the ring over breakfast at the cabin. And there you have it.
I had to do his parents in CAS for the upcoming wedding, used genetics, and his dad does look a bit like Geoffrey, come to think of it. Johnny is friends with Geoffrey, evidently autonomously. OMG, picturing his mom now, she's dead on for Nancy. I guess she'll be Nancy's sister in my head. Yikes, not sure how that will go. And that dastardly cousin Malcolm, oh dear. Nothing like discovering your Sim's fiancee is related to folks whom you never would have thought!
