I find the sims4 to be a boring game when played "normally" at first I took a break because it was like grind sims needs, get them to work or school on time and watch them do mindless autonomy actions and get addicted to electronics.
Then after I learned about pose player I started playing it like a "Novel" or a "dollhouse."
I turned autonomy off, I made up my own stories, main characters, back story characters. I follow my own rules and storylines so much that the teens miss school almost everyday lol.
I use tons of poses to push my story along and I love taking screenshots too. Ever since I've been playing this way I've been addicted. And it makes the game feel endless despite it lacking so much. I have so many things to still explore.
Maybe you can try it. And if not maybe the sims4 is just not for you.
Just wanted to add that even the strangerville storyline for example. I read many people finished it within like a day and some said an hour or something. Then they got bored.
It literally took me I would say maybe 3 weeks in total to finish it because i put together a team and inserted my own story, so between playing out their everyday lives, solving the mystery, and following a story of my own I felt like I got a lot out of it. I plan to replay it with other characters and a new story for them. The sims4 is what you make it.
