Just When You Thought You Had it All Sorted Out . . .

Oi! Took me a couple of days to wrap my head around a plot point conundrum. Did a little research and this morning I find myself realizing the problem that just arose. Seems even with permission from the Head of the dynasty, a son can't just marry whom he wishes. She must be part of a dynasty, which means a fraudulent link, or a scandal if they wed without the link. And we all thought Cinderella had problems. Oi!

I am completely beside myself, steaming right along with this new EP, my characters making interesting choices along the way just for me to fly smack dab into a brick wall. (Hey, I have enough of those in my RL family tree!) Whack, that hurts. There may be a slight pause in my updates, as a result.  So much for the push to attend university.  That was trouble enough. With this particular save I am resisting the urge to allow for a greater than eight on the lot cheat, realizing that may have been the root cause of the corruption that ultimately erupted in my last save.

See? She can be taught.

In the meantime, I can only monitor the students from the main lot. Going back and forth will ultimately make me dizzy.  I contemplated moving the other student in, but I either give up the baby or the horse.  It's those darn horses that trip me up each and every time. We can't control them, so why do they take up a valuable lot slot? Yes, EA I'm complaining!

I do suppose I could just send them all to live at the university and then allow them all to move back in with their respective parents. Or what?

Have any of you run into the 'you can marry her, but there are certain stipulations, first' bit?

Is there a walk-around and just how disrupted can such a scandal be? Is it worth giving it a try?

I await your kind responses. Thank you.

  • I don't mean disperse the the existing dynasty, just add a new one(s) for the dynasty-less where you want to.

Example, when my Outcast left their Family Dynasty they made their on and they are just by themselves in their dynasty.

    His corresponding Milestones for that:

Then I have just one guy (by himself in his own dynasty), he is basically my homeless guy, who I have sometimes live/float around with other households to do repairs, and provide fish.

  • I have made 1 person Dynasties (and I kinda like it). For 2 reasons 1 I person families, and for outcast family members who ideals/skills differ so far from their families can forge their own.

Plus after marriage they would be invited into the established dynasty, dissolving the 1 person dynasty. Just make sure they invite the right Sim to the right dynasty!

Thank you for responding. That is a very interesting concept.  I took my existing family who lived off planet for sixteen years.  I wanted a far better reason to compel them to come home other than Uncle Joe died, you're his only heir, blah, blah, blah. So, the fact that the nephew knew he was a royal but lived his life as a commoner, free to make his own decisions (oh and by the way, he was the rightful heir at the time of his father's death) too bad Uncle Joe wanted more than to just be regent, right?  Oh, well. Here I sit smack dab in the middle of this mess, if you will. I would have to totally disperse the exiting family to get back to t one person dynasty. I have at least decided to take the four royals and the one royal's girlfriend to uni to live in the dorm together, and no worries, the only Lady sibling will share a room with the girl in question.

Funny you should mention that. Last night it occurred to me that I could resolve the problem were her father to make them a dynasty. I think that's what I'll do. Thank you so much.

  • I have resolved my issue with the thanks of a player, @HallownessDevour, who informed me of what they did. If only I had known, then, what I do now. Erik is walking around with a purple exclamation point (!) over his head. Finally figured out what that meant. Oi. It's a minor nuisance, but it makes me sad all the same.

I could roll back a bit, but the dynasty has made such progress. So what, if he dared dance with a Commoner. He's for the People and so is his father. Getting his mother turned to the light side is another matter, of course. (Wait until they actually discover she's not at all a commoner, but from a little-known dynasty. (And no, she didn't forge a connection.)

Now, the question is, does Erik give an interview and make the announcement, his dance partner is actually a Lady? Or just let it be.

I am so loving this expansion. So many things come up and depending on what you do in the game, you might run into what could be called a forced error, as in baseball. So, here I sit.  If my Muse is kind, I'll come up with an update, hopefully sooner rather than later.

I'm getting a car, finally, come tomorrow. Yay!
