Just because something was limited or underdeveloped then doesn't mean it should be now.
Um...? Of course we should ask for improvements.
We're just stating that this is not a unique thing for Sims 4, and that Sims 4 shouldn't be raked over the coals for this particular thing when the superior past sims games didn't do it.
It seems many of us do agree that the AI and interactions should be improved.
We are also replying to your later post by saying that no previous sims games acknowledges the sick sims in a meaningful way.
Just because a sim has the ability to make Chicken soup doesn't mean the sim AI acknowledges the other sick sims.
Listen, I love Sims 2, but I I don't remember my Sims 2 sims noticing/recognizing when the other sims in the household were sick. Did they in your game?
Heh. The only acknowledgment they ever got was from me trying to keep them all away from each other so it wouldn't keep spreading. That's another thing they forgot to add with S4.
Acknowledgement on the sims' part would be a nice touch for any sims game.
Oh no they didn't forget it. And I completely disagree when people say you can just ignore the illness. I've already reach epidemic status in my save game, with over twenty played households. I just couldn't get rid of it.

With the sims 4 I've never been able to give a child medicine or indeed place it in their inventory. I do like parents being able to write their child a note for school, that's a nice touch. The last time I had a sick child in game they automatically stayed home from school which would have been nice of their parents weren't going to work.
That sounds like a bug? My children were able to take medicine in Sims 4.
Is the child displaying any sick symptoms (like spots, etc)?
ETA: I would love more affectionate concern and interactions for sick sims, too.
It's been a while since I've had sick children in game. The next time I get one I will try it. I don't have mods or cc but guess could be a bug?
I'll be honest though, when any of my sim kids get sick or any life stage I rarely give them medicine. I've never had a sim die from sickness nor does it ever appear to be contagious so I don't waste the simoleans!
The only time and game I bother about sickness is the sims 2. - Luckylunayre9 years agoSeasoned Ace

The sickness system in Sims 3 and 4 are both complete jokes.
You're correct on that for sure. In Sims 2 sickness was still not acknowledged by family members, but at least you still had to be concerned about it. I liked how if you left it untreated and didn't let the Sim get any rest they could eventually die from it. It was a scary thing to have your whole family get sick while in the early days of a legacy challenge or an Apocalypse challenge. I really miss that aspect. In Sims 3 & 4 sickness is really nothing more than negative moodlets that go away on their own eventually if you ignore it. Just another example of how they completely eliminated almost every shred of difficulty after Sims 2.
Yep.. And as morbid as it sounds, I miss pregnant ladies not being invincible superheroes who can't die. They were hard to take care of in Sims 2 but worth it.
Thanks to modern medicine, people never seem to realize that complications with pregnancy are very common and people do die while pregnant.
Why did they ever take that feature out? Sure we can have our toddlers starved until they're taken away and we can drown our little kids in the pool but pregnant sims can't die?
I just miss the challenge of sims 2... Sims rarely got sick in Sims 3 and if they did it wasn't severe and couldn't kill. At least they threw up though. Sims in 4 RARELY throw up, although it could.be me. I assumed they took throwing up out at launch for the longest time because I rarely ever see it. I've tried squeamish Sims, pregnant sims, eating stale food etc and sims rarely throw up. - MidnightAura869 years agoSeasoned AceMy sims throw up when pregnant in the sims 4, but never Seen it beyond that. I completely agree about the sims 2 pregnancies. One of the saddest moments I had when my legacy founder was pregnant with her second child, I heard my phone ring in the other room and I went to answer it, I forgot to pause the game and I came back to find her husband and child grieving over her urn! She had starved to death!

Did they refine it in a patch? I hadn't had that happen in S4. They did get sick frequently when the EP first came out, but I think I recall that seemed toned down after a while. Never had it spread. Maybe I was just lucky?
I always just ignored it and it would go away on its own after a day or 2. I think I may have had one instance where it appeared the mother and daughter passed it back and forth between each other. But again, that was when GTW first came out.
Since then, they rarely got sick.- They may have refined it @kremesch73 but basically two bottles of medicine, a few glasses of OJ and sims get better. if you don't treat it it will spread throughout a family and if they have other sim visitors they can catch it too.
It's actually a real pain when it is your own sims that are sick that you play in rotations (but currently are rotated away from) as they will not get better autonomously and so will keep spreading the illness around. hence the 'epidemic'.
Considering I can't access the hospital from GTW I'd prefer it if there were no illnesses, they are shallow annoy game-play imo. "NZsimm3r;15412050" wrote:

Ah. Sounds like it's more like S2 in that respect then. I had epidemics of impending doom when Apartment Life came first came out. Have learned to keeps sims isolated when their ill now :)
Thanks for the info."kremesch73;15412085" wrote:

It's not been refined in my game. It works like it always did. If you work at the hospital then the current household may get sick more than normally. Maybe the offender is my Sim who works at the hospital. But in other cases in my saves, no one in the doctor career, rarely see any illness. Also, if you run a business more likely to get sick just par for the course, or so I have noticed. Or run a restaurant. Or if you run down your Sims and they go without sleeping or eating etc. for a few days mostly in the lower end of the scale. But if they stay pretty much happy, and not getting run down, then no illness. If you skill one to death (not literally) More likely to get sick. It seems to be totally avoidable for the most part.
ETA: Yes, OP, I would like parents of kids to know their kids are sick, and care, or worry, not just a bad moodlet, and tuck them in and all that good stuff, but they don't.- I haven't played the hospital career in over a year and lately all my sims have been getting annoyingly sick, children included.
- Hi! I know this is like 2yrs just left alone but I wanna put in that my child sims don't cough. They just sneeze? Is it allergies?
