- WaytoomanyUIDs4 years agoSeasoned AceYup its annoying and really needs to be nerfed. they managed to make it even more nonsensical than all other Sims 4 emotions put together. There are circumstances where stressed didn't make sense, but there are more where scared doesn't. At least give us some traits that help make it more manageable
And not everyone has or is interested in getting Paranormal, which has the most effective way of minimising the emotion, the brave reward trait.
And its incredible annoying everyone being afraid of lightning. And why on earth are vampires afraid of ghosts? Seriously? Maybe a fledgling or minor vampire, but nothing else.
Ideally there should be traits like meek, which makes sims behave the way they do at the moment and brave should be a standard trait not a reward trait.
It really feels like new DLC is balanced for 1 or 2 hour lets plays, not consistent play.

No, there are ways to mitigate it in game without the Paranormal pack. I am so tired of toggles being provided then the corresponding feature getting zeroed out because people are too lazy to use the toggles they’re always whining they want. NO MORE NERFING! - Beardedgeek724 years agoSeasoned Ace

No. It does not need to be nerfed. Absolutely NOT. - Sara1010p4 years agoSeasoned Ace

Just an fyi if you didn't know already, the brave trait was included with the patch for the base game, along with the fear emotion. You don't have to own paranormal stuff pack to get it. - KLAlexis4 years agoRising Vanguard

I really like the scared emotion, but as others have said it needs to be better balanced. I feel like constructive criticism isn’t helpful here, because that too results in things getting nerfed. I mean why nerf something? It seems like a lazy way to address real concerns. I in no way want anything removed, just for the emotions to make actual sense. I have a Sim with the brave reward trait, he also has bro, self assured, and loves the outdoors. Why do I need to give a Sim like that the storm chaser trait, to stop him from being terrified of thunderstorms? It would however make sense for his girlfriend to be afraid as she has neat, perfectionist, and bookworm traits. I think it seems to be more of an issue with traits not doing much to make Sims different from each other, not so much an issue with the emotions themselves.
I agree with you. In my opinion, I shouldn't have to always buy reward traits for my sims. It is even more annoying when playing with multiple sims and most of them are afraid of the same things. Let our sims traits do what they are supposed to do. What was the point of having traits if they don't behave accordingly. I don't get why that isn't a priority to them if that's what they advertised so much when introducing The Sims 4.
They keep adding new things without changing the game's foundation, thus changing nothing but the surface area. It's like spraying perfume on a casket. No matter how pretty they want it to look, it won't because deep down it's always gonna be smelly due to its core (imo). - nikkiheathcote954 years agoSeasoned Ace

I don't feel there is anything wrong with the balance. That is, when my sims feel scared, the effect it has on them is appropriate. What I do feel there is a problem with, is traits and sims having little individuality. The addition of scared makes this even clearer. Our sims need wants and fears. Not every person is scared of storms, is the glaring one that is showing to most people.
I agree with your comment that our sims need to be more unique to each other, be given more depth, we are not all scared from the same things in real life, my worry is however that some people complaining that much about it, that fear may be removed completely, hopefully the developers sort this to make sims more different to each other in fears - Yeah, my sims live in a haunted house and they're constantly cancelling everything I tell them to do for the stupid scared animation, they're cancelling school because of it and even when I'm not in the haunted house random sims will just be running around terrified for no apparent reason and they'll be scared for the entire day because the lights flashed at 2am.
- Sharooonia4 years agoSeasoned AceThe only thing that bothers me about the scared emotion is my sims not going to school or work when living in a haunted residential which meant that I couldn't let things get as crazy as I wanted but other than that I find it all quite funny.

That is the point tho. That actions do have consequences, something that has been lacking from Sims 4 from the beginning (the game is simply too easy, always has been). - GypsyRozLyn4 years agoSeasoned AceI have had two haunted houses so far and no one had issues going to work or school - I play vanilla so maybe it is a mod causing that. Yes, sims get interrupted when they are scared - that only makes sense - if you heard a creepy noise in your house - wouldn't you stop paying attention to what you are doing and be scared? Regardless of that though - I can still always get my sims to go back to what they were doing if I want to, even if they are scared, or calm their fears first before going back to what they were doing. Being scared is the point of living in a haunted house. I really like the scared emotion - it is one of the rare funny things we actually have gotten in this game.
