Kitchen Not Working

I got Island Living, up until now all my kitchens have been working. So I made a building in Newcrest and had my sim make a grilled cheese and it didn't work.
The stove seemed to be the problem so I changed the stove, I moved the stove, and I tried cooking at least 5 times. I don't know what's going on.

Has this happened to anyone else?
How do I fix it?

  • Do you have either of the Don't Do X Where You Angry Poop mods? I think I had an issue with one of those stopping stove functions at one point. Have you tried resetting the stove? Trying with no mods/cc? Have you updated all your mods/cc? Repaired your game?

    thanks
  • I'm not sure if this is along the same lines, because my appliances are working, but only in the new content do I have a Sim refusing to use the kitchen sink or dishwasher. He started off using the bathroom next to the kitchen to wash dishes so, thinking maybe that sink was somehow closer, I moved the door to the other room. This didn't work so I then locked the door. He then decided to take his dishes upstairs to wash them in the master bath. I locked that door and then he got mad indicating there was no place to wash them. He also won't use the garbage can placed next to the door, but will instead walk past it and through the garbage in the outside can. It's only happened since I bought the pack and only in that area.

Do you have the off the grid lot trait on your lot? No counter sinks say they work in off the grid.

Are you using the trashcan that gives you money when you throw away items? It may not work on off the grid lot trait either.

Nope, don't have the off the grid lot trait. On that note both bathrooms as well as the kitchen were counter sinks, and I had read somewhere that counter sinks take precedence to the others. That said, I replaced the bathrooms with standalone sinks and still have the same problem.
  • If you're not using mods or cc.

You can try putting the dirty dishes in your inventory and moving the lot into a different world. Sell your lot and move into the lot in the different world to see if the problem is with the lot or the build. Also check off the 'fill empty houses' in gameplay options for if you want to move your sim back to the new world lot after testing it.

If the lot has problems in the new world, the kitchen and trash will work in the different world. If they don't work, try repairing your game.
  • I have had it before, even in vanilla games, and way before the current pack/patch mess. Sim would give the routing error hand wave & thought baloon. The cure I was given here on the forums way back when is to:
pull the kitchen out of the house and put it into the yard
put in a new blank room where it used to be
move the fridge back into the new room along with a counter
test by having sim make a simple no-cook meal
if that is successful bring back the stove for a cooked meal test
if cooking works, slowly bring kitchen components back, delete any that cause a problem
once new kitchen is complete and functioning properly delete the old one

Alternatively, nuke the old kitchen upon removal and build a new one from stratch.
