Now I know that representation is one thing, and sometimes I think it's too much at times (like those recent Korean traditional outfits in the SDX that I would never have a reason to use but that discussion is for another day), but at least it was free.
Oh no wait, lets have that discussion. Is representation only good when it's your group getting it? or are all the rainbow flags and fashion also 'too much'?
If you were to go to Seoul right now, I can guarantee you'd see people in those "traditional outfits" because they're still used in all sorts of daily events. Pretty much any situation in the west were you would dress in formal evening wear like "black tie", Tux, etc - in Korea you'd be or have the option of wearing a Hanbok.
You will also encounter this is you go to neighborhoods with a large Korean population, like parts of Los Angeles. AND... there's a good chance if you're a non-Korean attending a Korean formal event, somebody's going to offer you the option of wearing a Hanbok because that's seen as being respectful. Meaning that if you happen to have any Korean sims in your game, or a mixed family - it's actually a good idea for them to have a formal outfit and maybe party outfit that is a hanbok.
I missed that these had been added, but I did see one the other day by chance. As a Mulatto-Hispanic who's been married to a Korean for 25 years; I'm very glad to see them. There's a lot of other things I'd like to also see.
I like seeing them from EA too - because EA has a certain art style that I frankly like more than most CC.
The commodify discussion is a different one - but I will note that I don't expect them to give us everything for free. I was perfectly happy paying for the recent kit that had a LOT of rainbow fashion, and it gave me a perfect makeover for one couple among my active sims, as well as several of my townies. Likewise I was ALSO glad to see a bunch of LGBTQ themed art among free additions. I'm glad some of this is free, and I'm willing to pay for some of it also because they can't sustain the product without an income stream.
See, I don't mind representation, I love it. All of it - even when it's not aimed at me.
