While I can understand the lack of hotels and house boats because the focus of the pack is on living on the island rather than vacationing on it, I am sad about the lack of sharks. That was one of my favorite things from Island Paradise, that and treasure hunting! A better variety of sailing boats would be nice too.
I LOVE the idea of adding hotel management in a winter vacation pack! Yes, yes, yes!!!
We don’t know what variety of boats we have yet and sharks are possible. I’ve not heard anything about them not being in the pack. They added dolphins and turtles so maybe we get sharks. Who knows?
As far as hotels I’m not bothered by it. This pack lots full of content and better than island paradise (which was pretty good). It’s just different and more island living focused.
I’d love a winter destination with hotels that would be cool.
I feel like if sharks were included they would have highlighted them in some way, but I'll just hope I'm wrong! In terms of the trailer and what was shown during the Sims 4 segment, I didn't get the feeling there were any sort of major sailing boats, more on the smaller side (i.e. canoes and day sailers), but I'll take what I can get to get my Sim on a boat! Maybe there will at least be catamarans...
Island Paradise was my favorite pack by far, so even with the lack of certain features, I really do like the theme of this pack. The environment focus, especially on oceans, is a really important thing to bring to people's attention. Well done EA!"Dannydanbo;c-17099029" wrote:
Hotel stuff can be it's own GP or SP. What would you be willing to give up in this pack to get hotels, which can fit in any world, not just this one? I don't want to give up anything I've seen about Island Living so far. But that's just me.
I would gladly give up the dolphin, after going through the pie of interactions, you are pretty much done with that feature. How long will the thrill last of feeding the dolphin, talking to the dolphin, naming the dolphin , petting the dolphin, snooze.- I liked resorts too, but i think cleaning beach is so much better! Its bring awareness to sea and ocean polution and this is much more in theme of a pack than resorts.

Hotel business can still be added later in a Winter Vacation pack for example
Or in a honey moon vacation/romance GP. - TrashmagicNew Spectator

It's not about wanting the exact same expansion pack but wanting features that they enjoyed to return. I don't see anything wrong with that. I'm fine without resort management but I'd at least like for my sims to have the option to vacation there. - akl1226New Spectator

For sure there are at least 1 or 2 really neat features that werent in Sims 3. I don't remember , but could you make mermaids in CAS in sims 3?
Nope you couldn’t I actually checked yesterday. Also conservationist totally new. Fishing and diving part time jobs are new. The volcano is new. The culture within the island is new and seems very in depth and well done. Also they don’t reveal everything at first so there may be more (not hotels) but buyable second property’s are very possible. Rental lots being possible everywhere could be a thing. We just don’t know. This pack seems to have a very different take on island life vs island paradise. I personally don’t want a carbon copy of a past sims game. I want different gameplay and things I can do. It be boring so quick otherwise. "ElectraRai;c-17099435" wrote:

I actually do like cleaning the beach if we can decorate it as well but I had so much fun running hotels in sims 3 that I guess I am just bummed out over it not being in this pack.- My problem is this. Why is there always a tradeoff with every pack. Why can't we have our cake and eat it too. Having a dolphin etc. instead of hotel management is like saying, what would you rather have, the cow plant or the ability to manage a person's education with its myriad activities in University. Oh, let me think about it. I guess the cow plant?
Managing a hotel has myriad activities that affect the Sims that vacation there. The levels of complexity are way deeper than interacting with a dolphin or a cow plant. I love the dolphin but why does that preclude having hotels and hotel management, The two features are incomparable.
There is way more thought and decision making in creating a resort and managing it than in interacting limitedly and predictably with a cow plant or a dolphin, they are nice to have around but they do not replace higher level complexity so we need both and more of everything. - I don't think there's any trade offs just that they put their focuses elsewhere.

How long can the fun of running a hotel last after you've done the same limited things over and over. And, as for staying in one, other than room service, there' nothing special about staying in hotels.
I loved owning resorts in Sims 3, with the exception of the rabbit-hole part which was really to big. Besides the forced rabbit hole the rest was fully customisable. Adding casinos and bars made them really busy, would not work with Sims 4 max 20 Sims per neighbourhood.
I have been playing Sims 3 this week and my currant owned resort has more than a dozen employs but when I am on the lot still has more than a dozen active guests.
Staying in the pre made resorts as guests was admittedly very boring, 1 night is long enough.
