Lazy Landlord

So my current family lives in an apartment with their toddler to help supplement their income while going to the university. (They live at home). My sim discovered a mouse in their apartment and I had him call the landlord. The landlord came, but he hasn't moved from in front of the elevator for about a sim hour.
I need him to get rid of the mouse because they have a toddler and they can't afford to move out (without money cheats which I'm trying to not use).
Please help.

Edit: The landlord did finally move. He angrily stomped into the apartment, went straight into the toddler's bedroom and proceeded to stomp on his doll house. They thought it was uncalled for and I had them move out of the apartment and into a house. Rude neighbors, a rude and mean slumlord, and a mouse that he refused to get rid of was enough reason for them to leave.

This usually means there's an object blocking him from getting to the mouse hole.
