When you move your daughter out, go to the Gameplay section on the menu. You'll probably want Aging on for the Active Household only. You'll then have to decide whether you want the Unplayed households to age as well. If so, I'd recommend turning Aging on for unplayed households when you go back to your original household and turning it off when you go to the daughter's house.
How often you switch households is up to you. Changing once a week is fairly common. If you do it early on Sunday morning, then you won't impact your Sims' jobs and school.
