I have not experienced this myself, and I'm sorry your game is glitched like this. Have you tried repairing the game from Origin? If not, I would do that and see if it doesn't resolve your issue.
I have tried repairing and updating, clearing mods/cc, caches, everything.
Have you removed your Sims 4 folder from your Documents file and let the game regenerate? If not, give that a try. Something is amiss in your game. Once you do that, check to see if the problem still exists. If not, then substitute the empty Tray for your old one, and do the same with the saves files. This will restore your saved games. Play and see if the problem has been eliminated. If not, ask for help at the new site where they are suggesting we take our problems.
