I don't think that EA is afraid of implementing any traditionally masculine items or jobs (who will be offended by plain jeans, body hair and a firefighter career?), I think they just don't see it as a priority. Their target audience is apparently teen girls, and teen girls are “supposed to like” creative careers, such as a style influencer/an interior designer, and cute dresses. Which is a stereotype in itself, but it seems to be partially true (I think there was statistics that most players play with YA female sims).
And this strategy is quite sad, because it makes a life simulator very unbalanced. We don't have a lot of simple things that our everyday life is made of (physical labor, cars and car maintenance, public transport, kids riding bikes, etc.), yet we can be a simstagram influencer.
