Wow, that's pretty awesome. I thought they said terrain tools weren't possible though? Does this mean the other stuff they said wasn't possible is now possible? Maybe I'm remembering wrong. But either way, very excited and I don't even build anymore. xD Can't wait to see what gets made with the new tools though!
Remember, Things Change (tm). As they learn more and more about the capabilities of the game/game engine, they're making new discoveries.
Speaking of things changing, they might still be able to add a multiplayer option...but I still don't want one, and here's why: Multiplayer games rely heavily on microtransactions to finance their servers. Multiplayer games generally do not allow cheating (and I always have cheated in every single player Sims game to date, usually with the money cheat). Finally, I already play similar multiplayer games, like Avakin Life and City Girl Life. I have a Facebook gaming account for the latter with about 600 Facebook friends....and at least 400 are players of the same Facebook games I play. Social networking games encourage the player to "friend" everyone who asks to be a Facebook friend whether you know them in real life or not. And sometimes that way, you get plumholes. (And yes, I just deliberately self-censored.) These people are rotten plums, as opposed to tasty edible plums which I enjoy very much, thank you.
I think a multiplayer game would be more of a spin-off type game -- while they don't officially support mods, they build the structure that makes mods and CC possible. Likely a multiplayer game wouldn't be able to accept mods and CC.
IMVU, an online chat platform that also acts like a virtual world, created a store and a reward system for player-contributed content, but they also had to restrict player age as a result. Avakin has a HUGE section of their forums dedicated solely to requests for clothing, furniture, animations, and seasonal-themed content (one section for each), most suggestions are responded to individually, though the response overall tends to be fairly generic, at least it is usually specific enough that players know it is being responded to by a live person. Maxis could take a cue from them in this area. For instance, I suggested a playable slots machine once...one that could exchange gems for random number of coins or vice-versa...the response was that they don't want to encourage gambling since there are players under age 18. (Really what I wanted, to tell the truth, was a means of exchanging one type of virtual currency for another, especially for players who don't like/use ads as a means of getting virtual currency.) Sims Freeplay by the way, also needs a means of exchanging social points into life points or simoleons, life points into social points or simoleons, or simoleons into life points or social points. - Omg yes! Terrain tools!

it's not a stylist career
I thought this was a stylist career when they began. No chair? I don't know. It wasn't what I was expecting for a stylist. I also wanted housebuilding & interior decorator, but I just don't know now that I've seen what they are doing with the stylist career.
I think the tablet is neat to take out places and certainly terrain tools is something I would've never dreamed of seeing in S4. The career might be nice too. I will just have to see. Still leaning toward Sims3. I liked the way they did it and not so sure about this new way. Mixed bag for me until I see it for myself. - paradiseplanet277 years agoSeasoned Ace

As they said, it is in the very very early stages, so it's really quite hard to judge on something that's not even close to finished yet. I guess we'll just have to wait and see... - Erja8887 years agoSeasoned AceNo new chair? What kind of patch is this? ;)

...celebrity system...

My overall opinion:
I think it's too early to say whether it's good or bad, cause I am not sure if this tease holds more than what we can say for sure. If cars will make it, I think its pretty good and cool of them. I know foundations are something people wanted for so long, so I'm happy for them even though I won't use it like a maniac. Its nice to have for me and I appreciate it being added. Maybe later on i will be more happy with it.
The career.. Ok.. It's nice they added a career that is normal and probably useful for many sims. i would probably use it too. I do wish they would add in more careers. I get this one is for free, but they could have added careers through packs as well. They are needed. We asked for a lawyer career for so long and it should be here already. I do like the active careers. it's all I want to play most of the time. i also think the option to work at home, play active or just send your sims off to work, is very good and should always be like this in any sims game!
However.. they did use many of the same animations again, meaningless interactions. Maybe there is more to it, cause they didn't show us all, so we will have to see for a complete opinion. But from what i could see, they could add in some more meaning to this career by actually drawing fashion sketches instead of paintings (of a horse..). Let's see more about it when we get it and get to play with it.
Just holding my hope for cars and Sims 2 style with animations and in-car options.
Careers like lawyer, education, etc. could be waiting for a University pack to be added. We got an actual gardener career in Seasons and before that we got the three CL careers. so they are adding careers in EPs when they make sense. Someone mentioned there's a new art type, Illustrative, so maybe that's the one needed for the fashion career.
True, we got new careers, but they could have added new careers in the early time of the sims 4 when it was even more needed. The requests for basic careers are on the forum so long and we actually still do not have them. They might come, but my point was that they should have been here earlier actually.
They actually patched in two careers (Athlete and Business) a couple of months after the base game released. I'm still trying to figure out what people mean by "basic" careers -- IMO the only two "out there" base game careers are Astronaut and Secret Agent.
I wish we had military, teacher, day care, law, etc. I also wish they'd have the slacker career back but that's because it was a fun thing in TS1 and TS2, like the grilled cheese aspiration which they did patch in TS4.
Military is a bit controversial in some quarters, especially countries that have had military take over the government. And we got the Astronaut job that was the top level of Military in Sims 3. I could see education and law being added in a University pack if it's on the drawing board (I think we didn't get Education until University Life in Sims 3) or an active day care for toddlers as part of a pack improving education at all levels. I'd actually like to see some sort of "self employment" feature for Sims that don't have a traditional job but make their living from freelance work (writing, painting, programming etc.) or those make items for sale or go out and find collectibles to sell. The sales tables and Art Wall from CL are still borked -- I'd like to have an adventurer who goes to Selvadorada, finds artifacts, then comes home and sells them at the Flea Market."calaprfy;c-16760231" wrote:
The new sketchpad thing. Is using this just like painting but when the artwork is finished, it goes into the inventory automatically?
I'm asking because with easels, once the artwork is finished, it sits there until it's sold. Pain in the plum with painting clubs.
Looks like that's the case. I'm looking forward to it because it can be hard to position the easel to get the exact painting you want when painting from reference. And some places you can't easily place an easel, like in the Selvadoradan jungle or the temple.- Simburian7 years agoSeasoned AceWhat did SimGuruKate mean by "dive in" referring to the Oct. 11th Stream? Was that a hint of some sort?
