LGR - Snowy Escape Review - Your Honest Opinions

I'm very much enjoying this expansion pack after a released EP I didn't want and the GP I didn't want. (While I've seen the first few movies in this franchise, I was never very impressed with it.) This expansion, Snowy Escape, is fun and permits my oft overworked Sims some much-needed time off for a change. I rarely rely on the opinion of others, though. I only watch the reviews upon occasion if I'm really torn, which I surmise you're rather torn. I've taken my Sims twice and am planning a third trip. Mind you, I didn't realize the first time Toddlers could participate, too, hence the second trip. Only this time my Global Superstar, his wife and her twin sister and my Superstar's younger brother came along, so that each could take a Toddler on the sleds. Lots of fun. But, they failed at the mountain climb as the weather was rotten. Erik fell, twice, and I got a popup he'd really injured himself the second time, so I took them all home. I don't wish to have a crippled or even dead Rock Star on my hands. LOL But, I'm very glad that this EP also gives us sentiments and lifestyles. I'm loving the sentiments and am still sorting through the lifestyles. It's a nice addition, providing more depth to our Sims' characters, as well. Plus, we can now add rental properties in all the worlds. I used to simply use the freerealestate cheat for my Sims to Honeymoon in Sulani. Now, I won't have to. There's a lot to this EP, I'm learning.

I am enjoying it. But yeah the game constantly wanting to repair is hindering experiencing it more. There is a whole Origin to EA Desktop game engine transition going on right now that is effecting all the EA games right now. I think it wouldn't hurt to wait for a sale with the EP since sales on EPs are quite frequent and by the time you will be able to play the pack it will be on sale by then. I like the pack but I recommend not buying it right away and check if your computer can run it in the meantime. I love the outdoors and sports and gameplay and building and deviant and families so for me it is worth it. CAS isn't bad either. All depends on your playstyle. I know especially with covid nice for Sims to get outdoors for a change.

I think you should trust your own judgement, especially if you've watched streams and already know what the pack has to offer. I sometimes watch reviews, for fun I guess, but since people have different habits playing sims it doesn't really help me what someone else thinks of a pack.

I think it's lame because the activities (to me, at least) are boring--I bought it simply to have another world to build on and play with. But maybe you would like the activities? If so, then it's worth buying

I don’t mind a snow theme EP. But most of the features are recycled from other packs. I can’t support such a practice for a dlc pack charged at 40USD. At 15USD yes but not at this high price for dlc.

If you are an achievement-oriented player, then I think the only element of long-term value for you would be the Lifestyles. Sims acquire them by their actions and if circumstances force them to act against their lifestyle, they will constantly have to fight bad moodlets.

Other than that you level your sims to level 6 climbing, do the mountain expedition once (or twice, if the ice cave isn't open at your first try) level skiing and snowboarding, run each slope until you've seen all the tricks, maybe buy simmis capsulas until you have completed the new collection and that was it, I think.

For me it makes a difference whether a group of vacationeers goes up the mountain, my cops on hot pursuit, a group a UFO conspiracists or the disciples of the motherplant who have revived her up there (pull from debug, place, profit). So this event alone will entertain me over and over. I'm also a screenshot nut and get a lot of mileage out of the new world and taking pics of my sims fail at sledding from different angles.

The new career is great to differentiate between the everyday office drones (salary person) and the well connected college graduatee management person (basegame business), for worldbuilding and roleplaying this imo is the best thing since sliced bread. Gameplaywise it's just another ten level career track, only somewhat harder/more tedious.

CAS is amazing, as always of late. I already loved the Uni and Eco CAS items a lot.

It definitely depends on you. I love SE, but I agree with LGR. It is very much a winter, Japanese inspired IL. Thing is, I love IL even if it is on the shallow side. IL and SE have two of my favorite worlds, so the content locked to them I will be able to access fairly easily. For me, especially, I wanted both an Asian and winter world so no matter how shallow all of it is, it is still straight off of my wishlist.

The real transcended gameplay is limited to the new career, traits and lifestyles, the latter of which I really enjoy though I feel there needs to be a lot more options. Festivals have alerts so you can attend them like the CL ones and the mountain excursion is an event you can plan.

Replayability depends very much on how much you use the world, lifestyles, new career, new skills, etc. The rental patch makes it easier to experience the worlds, but you still have to make the effort to incorporate it. Also, I dare say its bits and pieces of other packs make it more valuable if you have fewer packs. I will not have any problem using everything regularly, including a lot of the small details, so there are no regrets on my end. You, though? It just depends on how much the themes speak to you.

LGR is the only person I've seen a review from. I know a few youtubers had a hand in making some of the lots in this EP, so I'm not really sure if I'd consider their reviews, since... well I assume they're a little bias.
I usually buy games based on their replay value. I regret buying Strangerville, since I already know the "secret" and I never ended up buying Jungle Adventure, either...

Based on my experience, they're like...mega-moodlets based on your sims' interactions with another sim. For instance, if a sim catches his wife flirting/smooching with another person, there's a chance for him to get the "Wounded" sentiment which makes him sad and miserable around her. New lovers might get the "Smitten" moodlet, where they're always flirty in the other's presence. I don't know if these sentiments can fade over time or not.

These are things I could imagine enhancing my fun, but I don't want to purchase a pack just for these.

Universal rental lots were patched into the base game; lifestyles are expansion specific. However, the base game now has sentiments.

Sentiments are kind of like a memory system. Sims experience events together and sometimes develop a sentiment that affects their feelings about another Sim. Sentiments are not necessarily shared, either, and you check them in the new sim profile. It is emotion play, namely, but it adds more depth.

Also, though sentiments themselves are base game, there are exclusive SE sentiments.
