Lights

Not all lights are equal. There are some that are better than others, but they tend to be the overhead ones.

try using bb.moveobjects and placing more than one light in the same spot.

You can stick lights directly onto Sims though - then they can light their way around:

Square Confection Ceiling Light - but some prefer the Subtle Saucer - but both are overhead ones.

I tend to use bb.showhiddenobjects cheat and go look for the square and circle lights and place a load of them on the lot. Best thing is when you play the sims, those lights disappear!

Lights seem fine in my game. Could it be the graphics setting?

If you're looking for a good cheap in-game light I find the paper lantern ball light to be a good one.

YES it's too dark! I thought I was pulling a Mary Ingalls. I play with 3 overhead lights and started using a desk lamp. Despite everything, I cannot get the game bright enough. It's all I think about now. It eats away at me every night. I compulsively try the increase brightness key over and over, knowing it won't help. Maybe no one can help. I'll try bb.showhiddenobjects, but we may have to summon a cross roads demon to intervene.

The Subtle Saucer light is my fave for non glaring brightness. It is an overhead type, but you can now minimize it to make it quite tiny without affecting the brightness, and I find it hardly gets in the way at all.
