I have seen videos about 2x2 and 3x3 houses. They can be fun to watch and it is amazing how it is possible to make furniture usable in those tiny spaces. But I think they are too small to be practical. Sims need a bit of space to move around and a place to put objects down on occasion. I have never actually tried to play in such a small house but expect it to be frustrating. A house that size also requires MOO which can be a bit glitchy in my experience.
The smallest house I ever used was 4x6 tiles, so 24 tiles in total, for a single Sim. It was for the earn 1 000 000§ and I did not want to spend any more money on a bigger house. That house worked quite well.I think I didn't use moo but it's been a while since I built this edit : I did use moo for the shower. Perhaps I could have made it a few tiles smaller but 3x3 was a bit too squished for my taste.

For a 3 Sims household I managed to play in a 32 tile home, on the limit of the smallest tiny house. It was doable but some use of moo was needed.
