Living in Granite Falls
I've been taking a break from my legacy family to play a family that lives full time in Granite Falls. They have a house in Oasis Springs, but haven't spent any time there. Officially, they are on the sixth week of vacation (thanks to Pippa's generous Uncle Klepaucius). Observations:
1. You really have to plan. When I first sent the family to the vacation house I'd built, I had to immediately send them home because I'd forgotten something essential: a toddler pot. You can't enter build mode to buy anything you need, so it's all got to be there.
2. Do not send anything to the Geo Council from Granite Falls. The Geo Council has been revealed for the money-grubbing fraud is it, and stole five samples from my Sim. She's been trying to get the 'find five elements' part of the collector's aspiration for weeks, now. I think the Geo Council has cursed the land. After finding (and losing) some rare crystals, she's been getting nothing but upgrade parts from the spawners.
3. Sadly, the 'homesick' moodlet is overpowering for toddlers, since they aren't affected by many of the moodlets that keep their mothers happy. Pippa is now expecting another child (thanks to the miracle of Sim biology), so I'm hoping she'll be happier when she has a playmate.
4. Did they make the bugs easier to find? I've had much better luck with them than I had when I first purchased Granite Falls. Sariah, my herbologist, was rubbish at catching them, but Pippa did quite well, and when the time came, I simply transferred them to Sariah's inventory to get the 'collect 15 insects' part of the aspiration. (I also found that when Sariah used an insect in herbology recipes, she got credit for another insect. I think that's a bug, but a good one.)
5. The fireleaf seems to be fixed. The sickly fireleaf near the restrooms is still borked, but there are plenty of non-toxic unidentified fireleaf plants around to complete the 'identify 10 plants' goal.
6. Once you get your Sims high enough in Wellness to teleport, they will be able to teleport from the meditation stool to the Deep Woods (as long as they've already been there once). After you get to Deep Woods, you can click on the little 'self care' icon for your other Sims to bring them to the Deep Woods.
7. Be careful when sending your Sims to other places when you've got a toddler - the toddler can't be left behind or go alone, or he or she will be sent to daycare and you'll have to end everyone's vacation to go back to retrieve her. If you're sending them back to the lodging or 'bringing them here', the toddler has to go in between two parents or older siblings.
8. There is a bug in both the vacation worlds in which the Sim already at the lodging will scold the others for 'inappropriate behaviour' if they do things like sleep in a bed or take a bath. It seems to resolve itself in a day or so. (Sariah woke the toddler up to yell at her for sleeping.)
9. We so need homeschooling. I can't age my toddler up because she can't go to school in Granite Falls. I love playing toddlers, so I'm not too unhappy with this, but it would be nice to have another option.
10. It's just so peaceful in Granite Falls. No one passing by the house, hardly any unsolicited phone calls (and those mostly come from the Hermit, because Sariah had to befriend her). Nothing but the sounds of nature.
