That said, if you still have the originals in the screenshots folder, you could get the ones you are most attached to back into your game with Sims 4 Studio.
That's a good idea. I have only used SS as a way of viewing CC and running the occasional batch fix.
Not entirely sure where to start on something like that, but I could see some other applications as well. For example, when you take a normal screenshot and want to put it in a frame on a wall.
Got any tips or pointers of how I should go about investigating how to do that?
