Lost all my in game pictures

Oh no! :cry: Were you not able to do a system restore for your whole computer to yesterday or a few hours earlier? I had that same problem with photos in frames turning black if I moved Sims and tried to take their framed photos in their inventory or downloaded a house from the gallery with them. I couldn't figure out how to solve it. Lost the university diplomas too.

When my computer crashed I lost everything because I incorrectly assumed the gallery library was my backup library that I could download again from on another computer and that was not the case. I use an external hard-drive now and an image website for some screenshots, but I'm still slightly traumatized and miss my Sim's little faces that I lost :disappointed:

I hope you can recover these photos somehow don't give up!

Sadly, all but a small handful, gone.

I only play the one save - started it when I bought the game in 2014! Can't restore the computer from a system point as I would lose some real life work by doing that.

Was very odd. All was fine when I saved and quit yesterday. Loaded up today and all photos were black. I had changed nothing in the meantime and the play session I had yesterday was pretty innocuous stuff - just feeding em and putting em to bed ready for today's play.

In the end it's a first world problem so I will just carry on, but from now on I will save all building edits to my library as restoring from the local library does work.

Main hassle now is removing the black pictures because they look terrible.

I have had a little play with the tuts kindly posted by @Stormkeep above and its pretty easy to do. Main issue is that all the tutorials use a painting frame as the base and so you would end up with all photos done this way in the build/buy.

During my hunt for a solution I came across an interesting mod available on littlemissam's tumblr that allows you to drop a photo into a frame and place it on a desk, but it is very small. I am curious as to how it was done though. Apparently it works with screenies as well, but I haven't tried it yet. Link if anyone is interested (second post down):

Update - Got them back :grin:

It was really obvious, but in the panic I just didn't think :angry:

Anyway, I went to Load at the main menu and selected the save and there is a button that says recover save. It offered me several saves and I selected to recover an earlier one and voila the were there. Sure I lost a day's play, but have got my photos back.

Thank you all for your sympathy and I have discovered some good mods into the bargain.

This happened to me today and not only are all my pictures black, all the pictures I take are coming out black. I lost my sims engagement and wedding pictures ! I feel like crying ! I am also a console player so none of the recovery tips listed here apply to me ? if anyone has any ideas of how to fix this on a ps4/5 I’d be so grateful

Update: I restored to a saved game, I had to go back 4 saves and I lost a couple days of play but I recovered all my pictures. Whew! So console, players, you can just go back to a previous save and start there. Moral of the story, always have at least 4 saves
