Love Day In the Spring?

I like to have New Years Eve be at the last day in Winter, which puts Valentine's Day in Spring and though I know that doesn't correspond with RL, the simple reality is that the entire Sims calendar is not a Julian Calendar so the specifics of what Holiday happen in what season is whatever the heck I want them to be.

Keep in mind that even in the real world Seasons and Holidays are not exactly the same. Christmas happens in Summer, not Winter, for half of the planet. Easter happens in Fall, not Spring, for that same half of the planet. And for some people New Years was just a few days ago rather than over a month ago.

Yah, I use the 21 day season mod myself. 14 days is too short but 28 days is way too long for my tastes. Though now that I'm rotating between households instead of playing just one I could see 28 days not feeling quite so long anymore.

I set it up so there is one holiday each week, except Christmas which gets 2 days. If I really wanted Love Day in Winter I could just remove Polar Bear Plunge and shift everything up 1, inserting some other holiday after Earth Day in spring.

I switch things around to be more in line with the actual seasons.

The first day of each season is the Solstice/Equinox so Winterfest is just after, with NYE being about 1/3 through winter and Love Day is about 2/3 of the way through.

@Stormkeep I was having such problems with the Starlight Accolade Show that it was advised I take out that mod. I do miss it, but I don't miss the shenanigans that kept going on: IE Once the host thought he was doing a solo comedy act. He talked, talked, talked and talked all night long and didn't hand out a solitary award. Other times, my Sim would arrive, only to see an exodus lead by Thorne Bailey, himself, of the mixologist and any other stars that dared show up. Other times no Host would show up. Since I have not moved my Sim to another neighborhood; and removed the mod things have gone on as they should. Yay!

Thanks for the head's up. I forget to go to the Starlight Accolade most of the time but haven't had any issues when I have remembered, but it's good to know if I do have problems which mod may be responsible.

I like having long seasons, and in one of my old saves long ago had a bit of a longer Christmas-like season because in real life, besides Christmas stuff, my heritage/culture (?) also celebrates Epiphany (Día de los Reyes Magos) in January, which makes the “Christmas”/winter holiday last a bit longer.

I will have to rearrange and add those Christmas holidays again in my new fresh save for the new families I made recently. :smile:

I totally forgot to re-arrange the Love Day/Valentine’s Day and Easter-like holidays, though, so I’ll have to figure out where within the seasons calendar to put them in, once I add in the Día de los Reyes holiday and rearrange the Christmas stuff…

The real world's seasons are silly things. With the Sims I think of the more idealised seasons of Stardew Valley. Winter ends as the new year starts.

Valentine's Day is technically in winter, but I've neve thought of it as a winter celebration, just as I've never thought of carnaval or Pancake Day as winter feasts. They're prologues to spring.

I think it's a pretty common theme in games, the romanticised idea of winter is all about Christmas and snow, and then after that ends it's onto the next thing. I suppose most people don't want to recreate the bleakness of winter after Christmas in a game. :D

One setup I've done in the past (but only when playing with 2 or 4 week seasons) is I'll move Winterfest and New Year's to the end of the first (or second) week of winter, and then make Love Day the next weekend. However, if the Romance Festival ends up being on the first week of the season, I'll keep it in spring and move it to coincide with the Spring Romance Festival (with Bunny day/flower festival the next day.)

Actually, Winter officially begins on 21st of December and goes until the 20th of March. This can vary a day or two only, due to the Solstice. Summer generally begins, officially, on the 21st of June and lasts until Fall begins in September. Each season is three months in duration. The weather doesn't always reflect the season, even in Real Life. Just sayin'.

Yeah, but I may have been confused by the statement is all. I do consider February a winter month. Of course, Sims seasons are a bit harder to arrange exactly to real life, lol. ?
