Actually, this new forum may be why I don't buy this pack. This whole place is so generic. They wanted the forums of their games under one banner. I guess to save money and hoping people will get interested in other games they normally wouldn't bother getting to know.
It's not designed for simmers, but just gamers in general. Every time I come here I just want to leave. It's focused on the most "liked" posts instead of the latest posts. It's endless scrolling instead of pages. What if you want to check out old posts you may have missed. You can't just jump to page 8. You just have to keep scrolling and scrolling. Most people won't.
And simmers like telling stories, loooooong, endless stories, with many chapters and a table of contents page. I don't think they even considered this when creating this place, since it wasn't designed with simmers in mind. So when I think of getting this pack, and coming back here to share, I just can't get excited about it.

I won't buy this pack anytime soon because it doesn't interest me, it's another GP cross-dressing as an EP, and and and... But I agree with everything you say about the new forum. Even after finding out how to switch from most liked to newest posts, it still annoys me that I have to do this every time. It doesn't help that the site gets slower and slower the more I keep scrolling, and clicking the notification bell now opens a completely new page instead of a drop-down list. So confusing, so slow! Even if they add a Mass Effect forum, something I've wanted for a long time, I'm probably not going to use it if it works like this one.
Sorry for the off-topic rant, this is the thread to hate on the Lovestruck GP, not the forum. But if other people have similar problems as me, then no one will read this anyway, it will go down in a flood of more liked posts within a few hours.

For me I was hesitant long before these forums started, so as disappointed as I am with the forum (I had to move my story to a blog because it was impossible to maintain here in a reasonable manner), it has little to do with my feelings for the pack. For me these are the main issues why I don't want the pack:
- The TOTO are too safe when it comes to looks (see comments below)
- The costumes are too many and the CAS too ugly. Once more they have no decent shirts for men, but only things that are untucked. (I do like the loafers, but that's about it).
- The new gameplay objects are too few for an EP - a janitors closet that does nothing other than being a woohoo place, a heart-shaped bed that does not vibrate, a picknick blanket, a new game and a costume trunk. That's it.
- The hotel rabbit hole (seriously it's insulting to those of us who actually wanted hotels)
There are a few things I do like, which might mean I pick it up on a sale. Some of the new build items looks nice, I love the curved bar, some of the relationship dynamics could be interesting to play around with, the new death (by a broken heart) could be interesting if it's not too easily triggered, and I do like the picknick blanket.
- flauschtrudRising Adventurer
The bed can actually vibrate!
I agree about the TOTO though, things like make up, piercings, beards, body hair, glasses would have been nice and realistic without being problematic. I wish they would have added more.
But I also think it's difficult to judge this pack without playing (or having seen longer let's plays). If the new romance features actually change how difficult relationships are and how they feel, this is a big plus for me (but it's a more subtle thing than gameplay objects). But I'm also afraid that they messed up things, hard to to tell right now 😅
- Lonewolf1044Seasoned Spectator
I feel the same way, I feel it is over the whole place and also it is confusing. Yes, the old forum was due for change, but not this kind of change and I might be coming less here.

I'm glad we're finally getting turn-ons and turn-offs, but I already have one major turn-off about that: Where are the physical ones, like age, body type, body hair (or lack thereof), makeup, tattoos, fitness level? Those are all real things that can make or break attraction for real people, and leaving them out just because they're superficial doesn't sit well with me in a life simulation game. (And it's also ironic because TS4 is otherwise a very shallow and superficial game.) What definitely isn't a thing in real life is people rejecting potential love interests because of the colour of their clothes. Seriously, unless you're some hardcore goth who thinks that black is the only colour that should exist, who does that?
Also, sorry if I'm repeating points that others have made before, I haven't read everything because I find this new layout very confusing and I'm just glad that I figured out how to post at all.
- JesLet40Seasoned Ace
You're right, and yes, it has been mentioned before. But I agree with you. I mean if I absolutely hate yellow and my date shows up in a canary yellow suit I might not be overwhelmed by his sense of style but it would very rarely be that bad. Most of us would just live with the ugly sweater or accidentally shrink it in the wash... not that I ever have, of course. 🤫
I think they are so anxious to insult anyone that they have completely lost any edge instead.
Sorry we must break up I saw you wearing grey yesterday 😞 and it wasn't even vladdy daddy jacket or crumplebottom dress
- SheriSimNew Vanguard
Too bad we can’t make up our own turn on and turn offs. If we don’t use the standard ones we should just not be able to uploaded the people to the gallery, and then it won’t affect othe peoples games.

I echo other people’s opinions regarding the lack of physical TOTOs. I'm not that interested in realism in The sims. I prefer the quirky, abstract and weird fantastical way of pixel life. That being said, there is one thing that I believe should be realistic to a certain extend, and that's basic behavior . Natural, human behavior . Since sims are designed after humans, -even the occult life states-their behavior should at least simulate human behavior in a way that makes sense to us, for they are similar to us. Ultimately sims’ behavior is what makes the game interesting and challenging. I want my sims to surprise me, but the way they act has to make sense within a certain context. Otherwise what’s the point? To me, Non-sensical behavior = 😑 game. Sure, an unstable engine could cause a glitch in the simulatrix, however, there is no excuse for purposely neglecting some of the most obvious attraction factors: physical attraction. No excuse whatsoever.
It is human (survival) instinct to judge others based on appearance. It is ingrained in our DNA. I don’t have to explain why. We all know why. Maybe not everyone does it, maybe not everyone is aware of it, but it is a completely natural thing for humans to look at fitness, height, weight, facial appearance and what have you. It should be natural for our sims too.
I can respect and like someone without being physically / sexually attracted to them. There’s no need to vilify a person for not being attracted to certain body types or skin color. We all vibe at different frequencies. Some people are not attracted to muscular white guys with blonde hair and others don't care for the curvy exotic type. Black Beards are yuck to some. So what? That's OK. Can't we have taste, or opinions? It's ok to be selective when looking for a potential mate. It's natural, it’s healthy. Let our sims have that choice too, the way most of us do.
- The fact that occults are not included in the TOTO system is -quite frankly- sad. I would expect an EP to expand on supernatural love too.- And then there's the friggin non-dumbbells. The non-dumbbells really get to me. I don't know why they're non-functional. It's just dumb. Dumb dumbbells. There, i said it.

Totally, absolutely agree. Really tired of the perspective that if something can be viewed in a harmful way, then therefore, it's harmful. So the answer is to just avoid those things altogether? No personal accountability, no room for nuance? We'll all just pretend that the world is so very nice to everyone, all the time and that things like physical or appearance attractions don't exist? (Apparently, neither do husbands and wives or boyfriends and girlfriends. 😑)
Come on, EA. This game lacks common sense and basic maturity. We're not five. - elliebretonSeasoned Veteran
Yes, totally agree. I often think this world has become so insane with political correctness that I don't belong here anymore. Am I allowed to say insane these days?
And why couldn't they just add an extra drop-down option for boyfriend/girlfriend/partner if they wanted to be inclusive? I want a boyfriend option for my straight gal sims, but now that is excluded. So how is that inclusive?
- BissenNessSeasoned Hotshot

Oh you seriously thought they would allow people to be turned off by vampires? SMH. Have you even heard of the National Organization for Vampires? . . . Oh, you haven't? Well, trust me they have a powerful lobby here in the U.S. There'd be boycotts, shaming. EA doesn't want that.
- crocobauraSeasoned Ace
I was disappointed to learn that the weights rack is just a decorative item. Why even add that to the game without making it playable object?
- SnaveXsNew Adventurer
This just goes to show they really aren't animating new objects for some reason. I was looking forward to interacting with it but what a let down that it's just a static object.
- PandoraTOSeasoned Vanguard
They could have simply copied an existing mod, but they couldn’t even be bothered to do that. Just one more missed opportunity of many in this pack.
- JesLet40Seasoned Ace
"But you got a recolor of two objects you already have four or five different versions of...you mean you want something...new? Eww!" 😝
- FreddyFox1234Seasoned Veteran
I'm not thrilled about the sneaky bit of in-game advertising where we choose date activities. Instead of options simply not showing if we don't have the required packs, now we have all the options shown to us, and a note telling us we can only do these activities if we have the packs. Not a problem for me as I have all packs except kits, but I don't like it.
- bizuktagRising Traveler
Agreed. I'm sure other similar UI have done it that way in the past - for example, the holiday traditions in Seasons, wouldn't they only show you activities from packs you owned?
Adding in activities for everyone, owned or not, is just more advertising. As if a pop-up EVERY SINGLE TIME I open the game telling me to buy the Menswear pack (no, I won't) and the cart button next to the gallery wasn't enough. - MiataplaySeasoned Ace
It's a sales pitch and a real big problem for the rest of the community who don't own All the packs.

I noticed that too. I think that has to do with wanting to be inclusive and being afraid of insulting anyone (a part of this anxious time we live in), but I do believe it's a mistake. I can sort of get why when it comes to weight, but the rest shouldn't be that controversial.
- evilyn_37New Adventurer
100 agree. I never expected skin color or body type to be included. But the others don't feel controversial. Outfit color just feels silly.
- crocobauraSeasoned Ace
I was hoping to be able to create a chubby chaser, but now I have to settle for a sim whose interest is triggered by clothes colour? 🤔
- Breville1011New Scout
They had all the negative things you can think of in the past game of Sims 2 turn on and turn off and I don't believe that people back in the day complain about it. Now I guess they have to be careful what they do.
- JesLet40Seasoned Ace
The world has changed a lot since then, and people are more easily offended, by everything. Just look at movies that each movie needs to start with a disclaimer that views expressed are not the company's. EA is clearly reacting to this, but forgets that the result leaves us with safe but uninteresting and in this case plain stupid alternatives (like being turned off by a color of a shirt while not caring about if the person is covered in tattoos or not).
I get skin color and weight, I do, but the options suggested above (tattoos, body hair and so on) should have been safe. Also:
- Short, long or medium hair? Updos or not? Afro-textured, wavy or straight?
- Body hair where? on the legs? back? arms? torso? (I might like one but not the other)
- Wrinkles, freckles, braces, pimples, birthmarks...
Basically, the more detailed the better in this case.
- LolzarellaRising Scout
I agree with inclusion but as it is a single player game who's going to know if you don't want your sim to date a sim with a beard or hairy back or lots of tats or a particular body type/weight or who have pink eyes or a gap between their front teeth or mono-brow. You should be able to play your own way.
Do you get to choose to date occults or is that something that is not selectable?
- LiELFSeasoned Veteran
Uuuuuuugh! No Occult turn-ons? For real?! Do they not even know about the whole communities of vampire fetishists?
Like, how cool would it have been to be able to make a Werewolf who preferred Vampires, or vice versa? The whole forbidden love story, and all that. It's so frustrating, are they just relying on AI now to decide game features?
This is so disappointing. If they're not leaving out Occult players, they're leaving out rotational players (of which I am both.) So bummed. 😞Yeah disappointed I can't make my sims find vladdy daddys hissing hot :< or have them yearning to find themselves in Gregs fluffy fur or to have them especially interested in sims with magic...abilities.

Livestream stuff.
While interesting, there's one thing that bothered me: the fact that when you plan a date and choose activities, the 3 activities from unowned packs (Animals, Play in Snow, Skate) will be displayed whether you own these packs or not. They even included a tooltip to say which packs they are from.
This is the first time. Get Together clubs don't show activities from unowned packs, Seasons don't show Fireworks tradition if you don't have City Living etc.
Mind you the livestreams are always done with only base game and the upcoming DLC.
I don't like aggressive marketing. First the cart and now this...
- Karamazov123Seasoned Vanguard
Right? It feels scummy to have those there, to remind people of what they don't have and "subtly" tell them to buy more packs. Between this, FOMO items, pre-order bonuses, the THREE in-game ads we get before we start playing, and the cart that flashes and shows messages until you touch it, I feel like things are going in a bad direction.
- EgonVMSeasoned Ace
At this rate, we're going to need anti-anti-consumer mods to be combined into 1 package. Like, come on, I bought the base game when it came out, thus I paid 60 euros for this.
Ugh... I won't be surprised at this rate if they release no-ads DLC...
- FreddyFox1234Seasoned Veteran
Yep, it’s another step in the direction of in-game ads. It jumped out at me. I don’t like it.

OMG, I missed that! I hope the content creators pick up on this when they get early access.

Watching the game changer videos, and this pack is definitely not an expansion pack.
Even when I judge it against growing together, it’s smaller than that pack.
I just feel like there’s so many miss opportunities. And I am so disappointed with the turn on/off which is something that I’ve been wanting for years. The lack of physical toto is ridiculous. And the omission of occults as someone who doesn’t even play with them is mind boggling.
There’s some things I really love, but I’m on the fence about getting this now or waiting for later.
I wish they would’ve included apartments, walking trail, a new lot type, maybe a singles event, a couple new gameplay objects.
I would have liked a few things for Sims to do together. There’s not a lot of those. A lot of activities sims just due at the same time but they’re not doing it with eachother.
or just knock off a couple of lots and call it a game pack. Something doesn’t add up.
- flauschtrudRising Adventurer
Hmm, GRO actually feels smaller to me. It feels as if it came with Infants, since they were new at the time, but besides the Social Compatibility and Dynamics there are only the Milestones as another big feature.
But I also don't understand why there are no occult TOTO. This seems to be easy to implement and quite important for storytelling 🙁
- evilyn_37New Adventurer
Well, infants are base game. A lot of the things for infants are exclusive to the pack. So I somewhat included them in growing together pack.
And the thing that I think is missing in lovestruck from watching videos is not big features but the little things. Which I do think growing together had more of. Treehouses, tooth fairy, kid bikes, new events, new lot type, stay overs, splash pad, etc.
