Finally, a thread that speaks to me! Realism players are literally so annoying about this.
@ realism players: Stop nerfing our occult gameplay,
Six years of The Sims 4, and what do we have?
Aliens, vampires, mermaids, and spellcasters.
The plantsims are a disaster, the ghosts are hardly ghosts; if you play one they still have human needs like eating and bladder, why is that? So those don't count.
Six years later, and we're still waiting for werewolves and fairies.
Come on.
This. It just sucks because Star Wars could have been our Werewolf/Fairy, gamepack. At this point I hope they merge the two which would make sense considering they live in remote parts of deep forests/caves. Who really wants to wait another year or two to get the last couple occult’s.
While I really love the Star Wars pack, I do have to agree that it could (and probably should) have been Fairies at least. I keep remembering the Twitter Occult polls and according to those, Imaginary Friends (???) and Fairies would be coming next according to community votes. Of course, Mermaids came out higher because, at the time, a lot of non-Occult players just wanted swimming in the ocean and used that vote to bump up their own preferences. I saw so many people state that's why they voted for Mermaids. It makes me wonder if Werewolves wouldn't have been knocked out of that poll at all if it were only Occult players voting.
The fact that werewolves somehow got knocked out of that poll just really disappoints me a lot. I really hope it didn't give the Gurus the wrong idea either.
For all we know, they probably were already working on werewolves, but then the twitter audience placed werewolves too far down in favor of things like mermaids (for WATER SWIMMING) and imaginary friends (sims 3 generations, anyone?), and... this is an awful thought, but what if werewolves got cancelled? Because of a dumb series of twitter polls giving them the wrong impression???
Too many non-occult players were voting on a poll about occults. That's really the only explanation, because if you ask actual people who mostly play with occults, one of our top wishes will often be werewolves. I know so many people who still want werewolves. - I keep missing polls and certainly don't get them by email either-) I also hope we get our fairies and werewolves back because if the S4 vampire pack was anything to go by other supernatural states should hopefully be quite fleshed out as well. I still play S3 and I have quite a few mods for vampires that give them more powers like the S4 vamps have (apart from having to ask nicely for a drink which I of course modded out-)
EA keeps adding a few new ideas lately and then backtracks by not adding enough features to those new ideas that players thought they would. For example having to call Bonehilda via the seance table.. - LiELF5 years agoLegend

Cynical me thinks that Imaginary Friends came first because all the Occult Haters figured it was the one they could get rid of the easiest in their game when they bought the pack for CAS or BB.
Or it was the family, Generations crowd who voted for it to get more family play. - halloweenchild135 years agoSeasoned Ace

I mean, I wouldn't mind a generation themed pack, because I play occult families and having more family gameplay to combine with them would be amazing. That being said, I found the imaginary friend was the least interesting occult IMO, not to mention the doll was a pita after a while. I ended up selling them half of the time because I just couldn't be bothered.
Like if they stopped being "animate" after the child aged into a teen and you didn't give them the potion that made them a "real boy/girl" or just turned back into dolls if your sim had a low relationship with them, then I wouldn't have minded them so much. But the fact they just stuck around in their imaginary forms when they weren't made "real" even when the sim in question was an elder was just irritating, even more so because the sim could still interact with them. - sjofn775 years agoSeasoned Veteran

To be honest, after seeing what a disaster autonomous spellcasting was in Sims 3, where they would constantly cast random spells for absolutely no reason or context, I am extremely thankful that it's not autonomous in Sims 4, because they can't program sims AI to save their lives
Which is proven by aliens, when they autonomously erase the memory of their friends and even partners. Those types of interactions are the reason my MCCC tuner file is almost 300 lines long. Of course along with many other useless, autonomous things. Like shoveling snow.
I have never played with aliens, but that does indeed sound awful and storybreaking. MCCC tuner is a gift from god.
It depends on how you do stories. The spontaneity of something like that and the fall out that results can be really entertaining!
(eff shoveling snow though) - Gamer_Cat245 years agoRising ScoutPeople are already asking the Murphy Bed to be nerfed, because of the risk that it could kill your Sims. The Murphy Bed thing existed since the Sims 2, and the risks were still there. That makes the game more fun, because there are risks involved, and your Sims can warn other Sims of the risk.
As for the occult Sims, I love being an occult player. I tend to have all my families either full on occult, or at least one family member being the member of the occult. I love being able to create an occult Sim from the CAS.
People who complain about the vampires breaking in do realize that they can lock the door, right? Also, being visited by any of the vampire Sims is actually pretty nice if you want to turn your Sim into a Vampire.
All my games have a mix of occult, and normal Sims, it makes the whole thing more fun.
Also, what's the point of the having the occult, when they are just getting nerfed anyway? Aliens abducted Sims which made it fun, and people got it nerfed, because it happened "too often." I bought the pack shortly after that happened, and it sucked the fun out of that. Strays got nerfed, so my Sims have to go to the world that came with pets to look for strays, or adopt a pet over the phone or computer.
Part of me wishes they would do what they did with the previous games, regarding the occult. In Sims 3 they had a pack dedicated solely to the occult, granted the vampires existed before it, but for a "realistic" player they could not get the Supernatural expansion.
For Sims 2, the occult was more spread out. Leader of the pack was a brown wold with glowing eyes in pets, and you had to befriend him to become a werewolf. Nightlife had Vampires, and you had to befriend the Count or Countess to become a vampire. You could cheat being a vampire, but the legit way was to befriend the vampires. Witches came with apartment life, and you could befriend a good witch or a bad witch.
I just really hope the new pack doesn't get nerfed from people complaining about it like they did the other occult parts of the game. - I feel now is a good time to Dedeathify this thread, considering nerfs are becoming a topic again.
As I'm sure some of you guys noticed, there have been some calls to nerf the dust bunnies that came with Bust the Dust. Which, that's annoying as it is, but to make matters worse, there are some people who are defending nerfs.
And while I don't want dust bunnies getting nerfed of course, I'm more afraid the nerf squad will come for Paranormal (which thankfully hasn't been harmed yet, knock on wood) or ask vampires and spellcasters to be nerfed even further. Which is the exact reason I'm reviving this thread. I'm not saying it will happen, but we might need to be on our guard and ready to fight back if necessary. - Why don't players who never want anything spontaneously to occur re their sims just turn ageing off in game then turn it back on when they feel like playing a little more risky? I have families I would be devastated to lose so I back them up regularly but as I am also not adverse to using mods I give my beloved sims that I want to remain safe an immortality trait so I can choose if/when these particular sims die.
I personally think anymore nerfing in this series of the game would seriously hamper the games ability to remain a sandbox game at all.. - Beardedgeek724 years agoSeasoned Ace

Paranormal has triggers, so no need ot nerf it if you can just not play with it in the first place. And honetly, I'm a realistic player that dabbles in occults. I heavily dislike how that part of the community just hates anything that isn't a normal sim or pet or whatever. The second magic is involved they have a meltdown. (My Sims...My sims...Oh God my Sims game is ruined because of this magic pack even though I can just not buy it.....)
Other games have implemented things like this much worse; I love Forza Horizon 4, but the free update that came with the LEGO DLC pack will impose lego cars on you in the real world even without the pack, you just can't drive them, so there you can't even choose to "not buy a pack". The equivalent here would be if the worlds would be full of hauntings but you couldn't stop them without buying the pack. - atreya334 years agoLegendI like the supernatural element in the game and really dislike supernatural elements being nerfed in packs that are dedicated to them. For vampires, realm of magic or paranormal stuff, the supernatural is the lain feature and should not be nerfed, never. But for a pack about every day household chores, like vacuuming, I can understand if people want it for their realistic games. It would have been nice if the dust bunnies were optional.
