Well, on the upside, you are putting your sim's handiness through the roof, which keeps things from breaking at home, or elsewhere if they feel so inclined.
(I always chuckle when my sim is visiting someone, their shower breaks and I have my sim fix their shower, and then the friend tells them to stop because they are being inappropriate. There isn't enough praise for having the ability to sabotage objects.)
That does get me to thinking, what if you could sell repair parts on the flea market table? Those are good for some decent simoleons. Selling them now and then has paid for rent when times got tough.
