Working from home is already something the EA employees usually do.
They also know how to work with distant studios for example when The Sims Studio (USA) transferred The Sims Mobile to The Firemonkeys (Australia) or when BioWare Austin (USA) and Edmonton (Canada) work together on Anthem development.
They have the option to. But not everyone does. And when they do, it's not with the rest of the family at home (for those with families). For anyone who normally doesn't choose to WfH, it's a new situation.
Like I said, they're in a better position than other places that don't have that option open normally but it doesn't mean it's not an adjustment for the team as a whole.
And their in-office working with other studios is still not the same as normally in-office staff working remotely AND communicating with other studios.
PS: disclaimer: I'm not an EA employee or in any way forced to defend anything. I'm a realist who's seeing friends and people in general struggle with the need for remote work arrangements.
