Maxis going in wrong direction with expansion pack gameplay?

At first I was really excited for Snowy Escape mostly because of the setting/I grew up in Fernie, BC basically a ski resort town. Plus I love anime so it just works for me until I realized what lost ...

I liked Snowy Escape and the new Lifestyles, but I agree, they really could had done so much more. Even small things like having an freelance career for the new skills, and made the scenery clickable (even rabbit holes would had been better than all of this beautiful but EMPTY space...). Also liked the ideas with managing an skiresort.
