@GreenTurtle - Exactly.
I can make a Sim girl, interpret her as a lesbian and make her date only girls. However, the option of romantic interactions with the male sims is still there and if I click on one of them by mistake, well, suddenly my gay girl is into guys too.
There is still no attraction system, not even a preference for a gender.
Options for trans sims, non-binary sims and intersex sims are severely limited.
Talk of representation is nice and all but it comes off as an empty gesture from EA when the actual gameplay doesn't have options to make the sims more unique and diverse.
I have no problem with the additions of rainbow T-shirts and flags, but as @Logicallyironic said, it also begs some questions: if there is a need for Pride festival in the Sims universe, is the long history of discrimination of the LGBT+ community also canon in the Sims-verse?
(This issue goes hand in hand with the long-standing and complicated dilemma: how much of the actual real world, its nations and history, exist in the world of Sims?)
