EA Land did not require the subscription and was even free to play. It lasted 6 weeks. It was actually the best of the Sims online games and people did not like it. The most players Sims online had was 2000 - not acceptable at all by EA standards whose multi-players are in the millions.
Regardless - I don't care to play that kind of sims game. I tried all 4 - did not like them at all - never mind never seeing hardly anyone else moving around in the game. The sims online is nothing like the regular sims. Nothing at all.
There are many ways to do it and this can also be seen in the Sims games for mobile devices even though I know that you haven’t tried those games.
Online games are okay for me - but social online games aren’t. I mainly want to just play my own game.
I don't waste my time on dinky telephone games. I run a super computer -with a big wide screen - I thought gameboys were ridiculous as well- my kids had tons of those games, and their kids now like the mobile games- Not my thing at all. Oh and I have 20-20 vision so not a problem looking at them - I just see no point - never mind none of the kind of control I like. Heck I won't even use a laptop - if that tells you anything. I ran my desktop in a camper for two summers - and there were 2 laptops in the camper - brand new, even 1 gaming laptop - not interested. I like desktops I create myself with my components of choice. I am as choosy about the games I play. I don't want a game with the name Sims on it that does not offer what the Sims usually has. Online can just not do that.
I understand most of this because I never became interested in Gameboy games or games for consoles either. Beside that I was playing all my games on a stationary PC in many years until I bought an expensive gaming laptop with a big screen instead and that was a mistake. Laptops are not as good for gaming as stationary PCs are even though they can be used anyway though.
Consoles I avoid because they aren’t suited for the game types that I like. They are good if you want to play a game against another player in the same room though and likely also for other types of sports games and action games. But such games I don’t play.
But tablets are different. They are much more handy than other game devices and they offer quite many types of games. Just not the biggest PC games. But I don’t want to play all those big war games on a PC anymore anyway.
For the Sims games my problem isn’t if I have to play them on a PC or a tablet but that EA targets the Sims games way too much on very young new inexperienced simmers. This means that we have to be very lucky if the Sims games in the future should be worth playing for us too. Both the Sims Mobile and the Sims 4 are examples that show how disappointed we can become if we expect improvements of the earlier big Sims games.- Erja8887 years agoRising NoviceThat would be the WORST news they could give us!
- No no no!! I don't want multiplayer!! I want to be on my own! It would take the full control from us. Thank you, but no.
- Actually many - mostly adults anyway - have issues with anything that requires touch screens Erpe - tablets are the absolute worse as are most of todays more expensive phones. It seems the better the phone and bigger the screen it has - the worse the problem. It is why I don't buy anything with a touch screen as I have a constant static issue. It is a growing issue with adults, and rarely a problem for kids - so making big popular games more suited to adults than young on hand held devices with touch screens does not make a lot of sense for EA or any gaming company.
- @Writin_Reg I use my tablets all day long and am also writing this from my iPad. But I don’t have any problems. The screen at my old iPod Touch 4g was a little too small for me though. But what problems do you have with touch screens?
At rare occasions I can get a little tired in my fingers though. But this was actually worse when I instead used a mouse and played on my PC. - They scramble the entire screen the minute I touch a screen. White ziggly lines like something hit by a surge of electricity. I even tried the Microsoft Surface pro - it actually stopped functioning when I tried it in the store. They had me try two other versions including surface pro two - did the same thing. In the store though several other customers said they have the same issues on every device they try. The manager of the store said he is seeing more of this kind of issue and that it is not the devices. He used the same tablet I tried - and it behaved beautifully for him. It was apparently me creating the problem.
Some years ago Princeton University was doing some research into this - "electric people" I understand - but I don't believe they have any real answers. Technically Science still refutes it even when they see it with their own eyes. So it would be nice if Princeton comes up with some answers. - alan6507 years agoNew SpectatorI actually wouldn't mind OPTIONAL online multiplayer. I was just thinking how cool it would be if we could have our regular save games and when we decide to be in multiplayer mode we could invite other players to our homes or community lots and vice versa. We could get the typical loading screen when jumping to a new active lot but jump to other player creations and get to know them. It would be like alternate universes of all the Sim towns existing at once. I have a cousin in Guam who loves Sims too and this would be a really cool way for us to chat and spend out time whenever we felt like playing that way. I never complain about MORE options in the game and I'd actually enjoy doing this every once in a while.
