Meals on counters/tables disappear when rotating households

I have Sims with the trait that makes food never spoil in most households that I play, which means I tend to leave family and group meals out on the counters all the time. Playing rotationally now,...

Yes, I do it by habit. I immediately drag/place leftovers in the fridge after each meal. Plates might also randomly disappear into the household/individual inventory.
