Oh, and they have an extended lifespan as elders, too. I had a sim who was Active and earned Long-Lived, and I turned him into a merman. As an elder, he outlived grandchildren and a great-grandchild reached elder themselves when he finally passed. That great-grandchild was an elder for about 7 days by that time. It was wacky.
