Missing elements in Cottage Living

Given that crops dont grow out of season it might of been nice if they gave us a polytunnel (something like the footprint of the Eco gazebo).
That would of been very appropriate for a smallholding.

We have the cross-stitching skill, though it only goes up to five levels so I don't know if you knew and weren't counting it because of that.

It still would have been nice if there had been a skill for canning or taking care of the animals. It could have been different than Veterinary Skill, maybe Animal Husbandry or Animal Care skill? It would have added a layer of challenge to your interactions with the animals.

Based on watching Carl play farming is basically it's own job. Sure there are no promotions or anything but I think it would be hard to hold down a job and also run a full functioning farm in game or in real life. Agree that there should have been a new animal care skill--there is a new minor skill for cross stitch.

Yeah, it is deep rooted in stereotypes about those that live in rural areas. All in all, it is just supposed to be a funny thing in some of the older games. It would turn milk to milkshakes, which is obviously impossible.

But yeah, anyone foolish enough to try it after seeing it in the Sims would probably get gored or trampled. Then again, that is just the difference between games and reality so I don't know why we would have to be that sensitive.

I too wish we had butter churns (as in TS1) and the ability for sims to make butter to use or to sell in this game as well, but I am glad we did at least get cheese. There are so many delicious English cheeses I wish we had got a few different varieties and not just a wedge of plain old generic cheese. I wish the pack had included the ability to spread jams as well, rather than just creating jam-topped pastries (at least from what I have seen).

Not to belabour a point that has already been discussed extensively in another thread, but I would also like to mention that the pack really should have included the ability to make non-dairy milk from basegame and pack plants (potato milk, coconut milk, soy milk etc). The idea that sims can get plant milk from cows sort of defeats the purpose of even having something called "plant milk" in the game at all.

More varieties of jam using the basegame products would have been nice. I am still mystified as to why the pack does not include cherry jelly or jam and lemon marmalade.

Since England is famous for its bitters, ales and lagers, a few new unique English drinks could have been added to mixology.

I am also disappointed that proper tea making (with a kettle and a pot), tea pouring (from a working tea set) and tea drinking in a group weren't included in the pack. This seems to me to be the biggest missed opportunity. The store set in the Sims 3 (Brunch at the Old Mill) which included canning had a nice, flower-patterned tea set, and sims could pour, drink tea and chat together using it. This pack would have been the perfect opportunity to bring real teas and social tea drinking to the Sims 4.

Some of the other missing elements are:
No ability to make cheese or cream.
No wheat or grain crops or working wheat cradle for harvesting wheat or grain.
No working old fashion ice cream maker.
No working old fashion ice maker either.
No working rug beaters either.

There is the ability to make cheese. I think sims make it on the stove. More varieties than just the generic wedge of unnamed cheese would have been nice, though. What I am really missing is the ability to make butter, clotted cream, whipped cream etc. Old-fashioned ice cream would have been nice too, I agree. Sims not being able to spread butter or any of the jams on the existing breads, scones, and pastries already in the game is also disappointing. As someone said in another thread, the jam should be like the icing that came with the baking skill -- able to be spread on everything and just changing its colour.
