I believe I did that as well some four generations down my main save. Now that they allow us to select how much money is transferred into a "split" household, I can just let the non-heirs move out with $250k each.

As for myself, the more money my sims have, the more boring the game is. As a result, I often go for 2-3 kids in my main save so the mother has something to do staying home while the father works.
