WOW I am so glad this thread exists - I didn't realize the nightlight had any effect on the monster under the bed but it totally makes sense now... I have two children in two separate rooms and one is constantly getting woken up by the monster while the other hasn't at all. Guess who has a nightlight and who doesn't lol. I've also never been able to make friends with the monster so it's just a nuisance at this point.
