Monster Under the Bed Question

Does this only occur with single beds? I've had numerous children throughout my saves and not once have I seen it happen to any of them, and I only use the night lights with the toddler beds. The only thing I can figure is it is because I always give my children a double bed? (A habit I've carried over from Sims 3, it always seemed to make more sense to me to just start with a double bed than to have to switch to one later when they get older and start getting romantically involved).

  • Only single beds, and only for children.
Toddlers and teens don't get the monsters, though teens and up can still spray for monsters at any time.

Always hated that mechanic, and had to resort to MCCC to turn it off completely.
I've now been monster free for over a year (provided mods are installed).

The first double bed I ever had was after I got married. I had a toddler bed when a toddler and a single bed for the rest of my time in my parents' home. In my game I only give my YA/ or married Sims a double bed.

ETA:Oh, I take that back. I had two sisters who shared a double bed in one game save.
  • I got a single bed for my young adult sim cause I could not afford another double bed and she had the option to spray the monsters under the bed though. This household didn’t even have any kids, lol.
  • @Stormkeep I love the tip about sizing down the nightlight with the bracket key! I never thought of doing that but now I think I can put it down on the floor and it'll look like it's a little nightlight plugged into a wall socket
  • WOW I am so glad this thread exists - I didn't realize the nightlight had any effect on the monster under the bed but it totally makes sense now... I have two children in two separate rooms and one is constantly getting woken up by the monster while the other hasn't at all. Guess who has a nightlight and who doesn't lol. I've also never been able to make friends with the monster so it's just a nuisance at this point.
