This was a hard choice for me because at first thought, it's only the Occults that I push for. But then I thought about it a little more and realized the question specified "overrated" requests. I took that to also mean "unnecessary". So then I looked over the list again and thought more about the features and if I thought they were unnecessary to ask for and two stood out to me and that was babies and the color wheel. But next to the color wheel was also sliders, which I think is doable without being a disruptive mechanic, and I'd like to see more sliders, so I didn't choose that. If it had only said "color wheel", I definitely would have chosen it.
So I chose babies because I honestly and truly don't understand the need. I think sometimes when we all make requests we have this image in our heads of this great, game changing feature that will make all of our dreams come true, but realistically it will still have its restrictions and complications. I guess that's how I see free babies. I remember playing Sims 2 and how they would always just put the baby on the floor and wander off to do something and that was just weird. I also felt that the whole changing station process was too drawn out and the bathing was cute once but became a hassle. I ended up just aging babies up after half a day because, as Sims, they don't do anything and they all look alike. I recently had babies in my game and tried to play with them for a bit with the new little onesies but really, I just wanted to get a head start on the household relationships. I actually like that I can queue up some actions and not worry about the babies getting lost and just leave them in the room, safely in their cradles.
What I think would actually be better though, is adding more interactions with the cradle, like rocking them to sleep in it, singing a lullaby, playing with them in different ways, have them throw up on Sims like they used to, things like that. And if we could change the cradle style without changing the baby, that would be cool too. I think having more interactions would make them feel less like objects and give them more personality. I'm not against them being freed, I just don't feel it's necessary, but I see how much people want it so I do hope they get it. I'll just continue to age them up anyway, unless they find a way to make Vampire babies crawl out of their cribs and creep into a Sim's bedroom to watch them sleep from a dark corner.
