Move In Option

The families in my game are moving out of their homes when I just have move in selected and move out unselected. They'll move out but won't move into a new house right away which I feel should be how this works. I'm not understanding why they are choosing to move without a new house to move into. In fact, my sims are more likely to move out of homes than find a new place to live. It could be because they can't afford the homes though. They shouldn't be moving out if I only have Move In as an option.

  • Are you sure you have it set up correctly? Some people have had it mixed up and thought an option with the white background was toggled "on" and green was toggled "off", but it's the opposite of that. Green is on, white is off. Also make sure you have it set that way for both "My Households" and "Other Households", the two don't share settings.

If "Move Out" is not on, then households that are already in a house will not move.

Yes, My households is selected "Move In" green and "Move out" is unselected in white. I did it that way so my playable sims can find themselves new homes. I had one family that was nearly broke and I thought that was the reason the family moved out of the residence but another family with money moved out with the same settings.

I'm not sure how Sims determine they want to move but I had one family who had a 2 bedroom apartment move out while she was pregnant with twins. So, I assumed the family needed more space. I'm not sure if the game checks for available housing, when it decides to move out sims.

My "Other Households" have the "Move Out" option selected in green and the move in option unselected in white.

  • Have you by any chance given these households individual settings? I’ve noticed that once I do that, the top setting doesn’t automatically apply to all the households in each category and I have to manage the customized ones down to every detail. I haven’t had anyone do anything I wasn’t permitting.

Yesterday, 2 other families with the same "Move In only" settings moved out their homes. The custom and default for those families have the same settings for "Move In" but they aren't suppose to "Move Out". So, What I'm saying is happening. I thought selecting "Move In" would either move them into another house right away or leave the families alone. They'll go into the "Not in world category" when they move autonomously with Neighborhood stories.
  • Seems like this question shouldn't have to be asked....But are you using MCCC? And if you are, have you disabled all features in the mod for moving sims?

I just haven't seen a single instance of NS moving sims 'out' when they weren't set with that option. "Move In", in my game, only moves households that don't currently already have a home. That's how it works for me. I've played around 15 sim weeks since the NS update.

Yes, I have MCCC and checked the settings on the computer. It was disabled for homeless sims to move into households. I just enabled it. I'm not sure if that's playable sims or other sim households though. I don't want the sims in "Other Households" to move in. That's why I have "Move Out" for them set by default.

Since this feature isn't working like I thought it would. The only way to keep households from moving out into "The Not In World" category is unselecting both "Move In" and Move Out". I'll have to play with the game some more to see if they find homes now that I've changed the homeless setting in MCCC.
