- I don't want them to disable it all together, but an option in settings to disable murphy bed deaths would be nice. I don't mind my sims getting singed from it but I don't want them to die
- EgonVM6 years agoSeasoned AceActually, that needs to change somehow.
I'm doing an experiment where I replace all the beds in university housing with murphy beds and have my sims go through the college with the risk of death. However, this is ruined by roommates who open all the beds because they just can't stand closed beds. This has already caused two deaths (both saved with pleading) and my sims can't focus on their homework. "UnknownGamer;c-17382783" wrote:
Maybe the devs should introduce a tick box for “Random deaths”. So that those that want to play house can play in their utopia and those that want danger in their game can live happy with a risk of random deaths.
That would be a smarter idea and actually would make patching for future packs and patching easier to do on the Gurus.
Especially since it is split 50/50 on Simmers that like killing their Sims.

There needs to be a solution like this to appease Simmers equally and I think your idea would be the best solution.- Sharooonia6 years agoSeasoned Ace

I don't think it's fun to see the sims I've spent time & effort creating & developing get killed, especially not the moment we place one of those deathtraps in their home. Those things are out of my game until they do tone it down.
You can have your sim upgrade the bed. Ninja said an upgraded bed is very unlikely to kill, and that is my point. They give ways in game to prevent these things if you wish, but rather than utilize that option you would rather take it away from everybody. It’s wrong,
A newly made sim will most likely lack the skill to upgrade anything for quite a while. I find this whole upgrading the bed thing to be a poor solution to be honest. The way the bed is right now a player will be lucky if their sim makes it long enough to even learn enough skill before they become a victim to it. I for one am glad for the mod and I have it in my game but at the same time I can't help feel bad for those that can't use mods. I don't believe the death should be removed from the item but as mentioned by other posters in this thread it really should be balanced and toned down a bit. It's pretty much the selling point of the pack but it's no good if people are scared to use it. - elliebreton6 years agoLegendMy new sim has so far survived her murphy bed.
The first night she got squished a bit and I didn't want her to immediately try the bed again in case of death so she slept on the murphy sofa. The next few nights she got safely in bed but sparks were coming out of it.
She's fixed it about 3 times now and is still alive lol. The danger, the nightly anticipation of will she or won't she...
I guess it's a strange item to have a risk to it, but it's better than nothing. The game is far too tame as it is. I was hoping for deadly traps in Selvadorada, but alas it was not meant to be. Maybe they could add a few murphy beds to the temples haha. - Kimmer_one6 years agoSeasoned AceMy experiment with 8 Sims in the same household with 8 Murphy beds ended in 14 Sim days.
Murphy bed killed 6 Sims in first week (days 1-7). The last two Sims managed to stay alive the whole next week. Murphy bed finally killed the 7th Sim on day 14.
I saved the last one who survived. She won the challenge and moved to Sulani and is currently drowning herself in too much Kava to forget her traumatic experience in the house of Murder beds. B) - AedanStarfang6 years agoSeasoned VeteranI think a go-to solution for everyone's woes (or lack thereof) would simply to have a toggle option for all of these things; random deaths, vampire walkbys, abductions, etc.

My sim had no skills as she was a day or two in from a Rags to Riches start when she bought hers. No problem to me to have her select 'nap' on the sofa part rather than risk the bed. With the micro house boosts getting handiwork leveled was really fast.
There's in game ways to prevent it. There's a mod to prevent it. I want the deaths. I don't see why the people wanting it should lose out when others REFUSE to use the options they have.
Console players can't use mods. I don't know if you realize that. I'm using the mod and I'm fine with it btw. Clearly others aren't. They bought the pack as well and I personally think there should be a middle ground for those that like the deaths and those that don't. - JanuaryGarnet086 years agoSeasoned Ace

There is no middle ground. That’s the point. They give us a feature like this, people know it’s in the pack. They give us in game ways to tame and even eliminate the features through gameplay but players don’t want to spend the time, so they complain loudly and then it’s “tuned back slightly” and said thing pretty much never ever happens again. I am tired of there being a 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000% chance my sims will die of old age, and only old age. ?
