- Kittybass6 years agoSeasoned AceThat and there's so much misinformation being spread about this bed it's not even funny. If they are fully upgraded, they do not break. That's all there is to it. No deaths, no mishaps. Once they are upgraded, it stops. I have tested this for many many days in my own households just to see if some of the things I've read regarding the fully upgraded ones still malfunctioning are happening in my saves, they aren't.
Why not buy a handiness book and learn the first upgrade in a new household with an unskilled sim? Get the first upgrade done to make it break less often if it's a concern. That's a start. Or nap on it instead.
I don't know why it has to be "toned down" or why those of us who paid for it have to go off and find a mod to have it back when the inevitable happens. Don't completely remove our options for beds to possibly kill when there are plenty of in game options to ensure it doesn't break or kill. They are working exactly like they were advertised.
I have tested it, tested it again, and tested it some more. I have had a total of zero Murphy deaths in a household of 14 sims with the partially upgraded and fully upgraded beds. They autonomously repair and upgrade them too, or maybe it's just the ones with the Family Oriented trait because I have a sim that goes around fixing and upgrading them on his own.
But for goodness sake, leave the beds as they are. It's on the player to take measures if they don't want accidents. - Hi everyone, After I've updated Sims4 today, I cannot use mods that I used before. even I can't see the window that I was able to choose whether importing mods. How can I solve this problem?

Murphy bed killed 6 Sims in first week (days 1-7). The last two Sims managed to stay alive the whole next week. Murphy bed finally killed the 7th Sim on day 14.
I saved the last one who survived. She won the challenge and moved to Sulani and is currently drowning herself in too much Kava to forget her traumatic experience in the house of Murder beds. B)
Wow that is really slow compared to other deaths in the Sims 4. I know with my deviant save, I can kill Sims within a few days with most deaths except for starving and drowning in the pool which takes about 4 Sim days.- Tbh I really wanna know the actual chance of death via the bed so we can actually determine whether or not it should get toned down
Like is it 5% when not broken and 33% when broken? We need someone to go through the code or atleast the devs to tell us the percentage."Sharonia;c-17383070" wrote:

You can have your sim upgrade the bed. Ninja said an upgraded bed is very unlikely to kill, and that is my point. They give ways in game to prevent these things if you wish, but rather than utilize that option you would rather take it away from everybody. It’s wrong,
A newly made sim will most likely lack the skill to upgrade anything for quite a while. I find this whole upgrading the bed thing to be a poor solution to be honest. The way the bed is right now a player will be lucky if their sim makes it long enough to even learn enough skill before they become a victim to it. I for one am glad for the mod and I have it in my game but at the same time I can't help feel bad for those that can't use mods. I don't believe the death should be removed from the item but as mentioned by other posters in this thread it really should be balanced and toned down a bit. It's pretty much the selling point of the pack but it's no good if people are scared to use it.
You uh do know that you don't need to buy the murphy bed right away, right? It's not going to runaway from build mode and it is 2,100 dollars. I'm pretty sure there are cheaper options than a bed known to murder your sims, kinda paying extra just for a chance to die. - JanuaryGarnet086 years agoSeasoned Ace

This is way off topic but:
When the game updates it automatically shuts off mods & cc. You need to go into game settings the ... button in the upper right corner of your screen and go into where it says other on the left side of the dialogue window, then tick allow cc, then tick allow mods and script mods. You then need to exit the game completely and restart for this to take effect then once the game reloads to the menu screen you should see the dialogue box listing your cc & mods.
Be warned! The new update broke a lot of mods. You may want to look here

To see if any of your mods broke and have been updated. Even if you don’t see a mod you use here it’s a good idea to see if they have updated it since the last patch. - Kimmer_one6 years agoSeasoned Ace

I didn't try to kill them, though, I just made them use the Murphy beds to sleep in them. Also I actually tried to prevent the beds killing them by making the Sims repair the beds every morning when they woke up (the beds broke every night). I've understood that the beds kill faster if they are broken.
I wanted to see how fast the Sims would die during a normal game play without upgrading the beds, but just repairing them. I also didn't control the Sims much, other than repairing the beds and making them lift the beds up. If I had actively tried to kill them with the beds I'm sure they wouldn't have lasted many days. Still a good experiment under normal circumstances and probably better that you did it that way to see what the real chance of them dying is without upgrading. It is nice to know the beds do work upgraded.- Peapod796 years agoSeasoned Ace

My sim had no skills as she was a day or two in from a Rags to Riches start when she bought hers. No problem to me to have her select 'nap' on the sofa part rather than risk the bed. With the micro house boosts getting handiwork leveled was really fast.
There's in game ways to prevent it. There's a mod to prevent it. I want the deaths. I don't see why the people wanting it should lose out when others REFUSE to use the options they have.
Console players can't use mods. I don't know if you realize that. I'm using the mod and I'm fine with it btw. Clearly others aren't. They bought the pack as well and I personally think there should be a middle ground for those that like the deaths and those that don't.
They can't and that's true, but they can use the already in game features that prevent it, the same as anyone else.
As @CelSims pointed out, she had no problems using the sofa to nap until her skill was up. Furthermore though, you could just not buy the bed until the skill was up. The footprint on the bed is the same as a double bed already in the game, you actually save no space with this bed despite it coming in a pack called "tiny living" *shrugs* People shouldn't have to have a feature that was paid for, toned down just because a few refuse to use the options available, it's really unfair and it keeps happening in this series so it would be nice if this one could stay as is.
I insist on banging my head against this wall! OW! It hurts! Someone move this wall so I can keep throwing my head in this direction because I want to! - if enough people complain its happening to maybe by the next patch.
i love the pack and the bed, even the death B) - GalacticGal6 years agoLegend

Wow, I had no idea there was an upgrade that would tone the number of Murphy bed deaths down. See? There is a way to satisfy both!
