My cat has NEVER gotten sick and hasn't ever been needing to go to the vet!?

When I adopt, my cats never get sick.

I can't play in (ETA, the world cats and dogs came with), I don't even go there except to adopt a stray, then I never return. I don't like to see animals suffer even if they're pixels. The devs must've thought it would be funny to watch but I don't find it the least bit funny.

My pets, unfortunately, get sick frequently, and they get the debuffs-bug when they get treated, so I took to using cheats to clear my pets of all debuffs. I am not playing my multi-household games until the massacre-issue's fixed, so I haven't noticed whether that's one of the cheats that's been removed from the game...I rather think it is, though.

But yes, the npc pets that cruise by my sims' homes are very frequently ill, and the pc-pets in the HHs I visited w/the current sim were usually hungry or needing the bathroom, etc.

If you are playing in any other world but Brindleton Bay - I believe they will only get sick if you put one of the pee/woohoo bushes on the sim's property (I don't think it has to be the one that came with Cats and Dogs). Without the bush - there are no other animals or anything that would make them sick. They fake attack birds and squirrels in the bushes and then get sick sometimes from that - it is usually the same sickness over and over from a squirrel bite - rabies or something - I forget the name of the sickness. They will leave a bunch of those feathers too all around the bushes.

I really dislike that pets in other worlds are so different from pets in Brindleton Bay - the sicknesses and strays are way overdone in Brindleton Bay (which is why I don't really like my sims to live there even though I love the town itself) but do not exist at all in the other worlds.

As for pets always being sick when you visit other sims - yes, that always happens- why, I do not know. If I am playing around a lot of pets - I always keep wellness snacks in the sim's inventory and give them to the sick strays or the ones my sim visits and it cures them.

@LaQueenNoire There may still be a bug with the wellness snacks though - not sure they ever fixed it. It used be be just when you took a pet to the vet that it got a fear moodlet for quite a long time afterward but then the same thing started happening with the wellness snacks too. This only affects your own sim's pets though as you do not know if the stray pets are getting the moodlet or not. In any case - the snacks still cure all the pets and it beats having all those sick animals around. I have just learned to ignore the fear moodlet or just give the pet extra attention when they have it - it usually does go away eventually.

I played a pet rescue for a while in Brindleton Bay and just used the wellness snacks to cure strays and then fed them, bathed them, brushed them, petted them, played with them, etc. The couple I was playing had a dog and cat of their own so they would adopt 4 strays at a time and get them in good shape and then I used manage worlds to place them in other sim's homes. Had the cat friendly and dog friendly lot traits too and partitioned off part of the house and had pet doors in that part so any stray could come in and get food or a bed or get cured. It was a lot of fun but also a lot of work!

Like others have said, my sims cats/dogs only really get sick when they go exploring in the pee bushes that came with Get Together/Jungle Adventures. Outside of Brindleton Bay, some of the lots in Windenberg have the bushes in the vicinity without actually placing one myself. Honestly, I think the pets either get sick way too often or not at all. One of my sims had a cat that got sick pretty much everyday from exploring.

I mean, I guess it's weird to complain about... but I specifically created two vet clinics in my game. I was hoping to make use of each one at least once or twice... but I've never had an actual reason to go there. And I don't just wanna go to get him fixed either. I was hoping for a bit more need for the vet clinics, but I haven't had one yet.

Also, non-played households are extremely irresponsible with their pets... every time I visit another household with a dog or cat, their pet is ALWAYS sick with some kind of illness... their nose or paws are ALWAYS red. They're clearly in distress, but they never seem to be helped whenever I go over. Is that also a bug? And has anyone else noticed this as well?

Cats and dogs get sick depending on there life style. For example my cat always ate cake so once in a while she got sick. My dogs barley got sick but when they ate bad food they did. I feel like if you don’t pay attention to them at least I know my dogs if I didn’t walk them or give them love they’d get depressed and get sick. When they turn into an elder they are more prone to get sick a lot.

In my experience, it's only when they get old that they get sick - all the time.

All the pets in my game, stray and homed alike, were always sick and dirty. I decided to use the mod previously mentioned by Little Sam and it's nice to see all the pets not moping around looking miserable. I'm not a fan of how the pets are without the mod, I see enough suffering in real life-I'm seriously not interested in seeing it in my game too.

You're lucky! My animals get sick FAR TOO OFTEN. It drives me nuts and I have been having less pets because of it. It's a shame and needs fixed.
