I've found a correlation with elders who just won't freaking die already and having the Active trait (but not necessarily having completed the Bodybuilder aspiration). I use MC Command Center for story progression and have it set to give me notifications when somebody in town dies. Whenever I have an elder in my main family or anywhere else in town that also has the Active trait, they take forever and ever to die. One of them lived so long it was beyond ridiculous, she must have outlived her grandchildren. In my legacy house one of the spouses was also Active and was perfectly happy to keep on living for at least double the elder span that her husband had, so I finally got fed up and killed her in the sauna.
