My Game Is Testing My Patience?

So I created a family, a husband and wife, and before they start their family, I've decided that they will complete every aspiration and all household collections so that it can be a generation thing that's passed down. I have every pack and managed to get all collections complete bar the fishing one. I needed a Piranha and Red-Tailed Black Shark and have been fishing in every water hole and fishing spot these have been found - even in Sylvan Glade where the fish themselves are seen swimming in the pond. I have used the correct bait and my sims have spent 8 Sim Seasons trying to get these fish to not avail. I've spent HOURS on this.

Today, I have some housework to do and thought I'll go on and try and catch those two fish and only when those fish are caught will I make a start (I hate folding towels) and lo and behold as soon as I loaded the game Santino caught both one after the other within seconds of the game loading. I swear the game is testing my patience.

At least all the collections are now complete.

Anyone else have similar moments to this?

  • The only really annoying thing about TS4 is the autonomy and i really don't like the autonomy of this game one bit. There is so many things wrong with this automated orders system for TS4 at this point, i wish i could get at that part of the game code and rewrite the orders so they make sense to what sims are doing in the game.

So if a sim needs to pee they go to the toilet and then actually wash their hands (all the time with no exceptions).

When you load into a sim household, the sim who is hungry isn't always at the bbq starting to grill something or at the coffee machine brewing a cup, instead they start at the fridge getting left overs instead.

Sims are no longer fighting over reflexologists and massage therapists in spa day and those staff members stick to the sim they are dealing with instead of going to another sim, and further the sim getting a certain massage won't up and leave to do something silly until their massage is actually complete.

Sims are no longer always grabbing over a drink of water or stopping their longer cooking tasks to play basketball. instead sims only go for a drink of water more occasionally and sims on longer cooking tasks stay on the task until it actually completes band the next task would to autonomously put the food away before going to do some other task.

Any item that is broken in the house you don't immediately see, a sim goes to repair the item before mopping up instead of the other way around, or stopping half way to do some other task and leaving the mess to another sim.

That's just a few of the things that is wrong. If only these autonomy commands made sense and sims actually stuck to an autonomous task until the user themselves cancelled it.

Congratz on completing the collections. That's a tough one. So was it testing your patience because now you have no excuse not to clean house? :D That would test my patience for sure hehehehe. I have a core family in my game and a lot of other families that are somehow related to my core family, ie three families have children that will grow up and marry my core family's children etc. So I did have one thing happen that made me quake a bit before it worked itself out. One of the families is expecting a baby. I am hoping for a girl as wife to my not-born-yet third son. So three sim days pass and she has a girl! Perfect. Now I can go back to my core family and get mom pregnant and hope for a boy. Low and behold, I log in and am playing for a bit. Suddenly I realize that the mom I intended to get pregnant is ALREADY pregnant! I have no idea when the snuck off to "try for a baby" but they did! Now I am rushing to make sure their toddler gets all her skills up so she can age up as I had intended her to do in a couple of weeks! I am not really mad. I love chaos.
  • @SimsLady2000 Yes, that's exactly why it was testing my patience. Now I am gonna send them both to university and get distinguished degrees in every field because they have completely maxed their skills. I am then gonna have them turn into the different occults and be cured and then have their family. As soon as they begin having their family I'm gonna turn aging on and make sure that the toddlers and children max all skills before they age up to add more chaos, like yourself I love a chaotic game.
  • Yesterday was the first time I had a baby get whisked away from neglect. I had to quit without saving, and now their aunt and uncle are expecting a second child! There are currently five children in fourth generation**, four boys and one girl, now there's going to be another girl coming in! Spencer is the oldest, then his sister Emerson. Then the cousins in birth order: Ryder, Michael, Preston, and Caitlin.

**Spencer and Emerson are siblings, Ryder and Preston are half-brothers(same dad, different moms), and Michael and Caitlin are siblings.
