My Sim due to take over family line...is ugly!

So far I've not had any luck in having a good looking offspring. I've always had to tweak them as teens.

I only a had like two sims born in game, but both of them were lucky to inherit their parents' good features :D What I noticed is to have good looking offspring, the parents shouldn't have overtly feminine or overtly masculine features, because a child of any gender could inherit those. Thus, a daughter could inherit her father's jawline, or a son could inherit his mom's soft face shape, which just looks off most of the time. Especially with Don, I could imagine that his daughter's aren't very good looking in case they inherit his facial features. You just have to be lucky enough. I have a family I created myself, but used the cas genetics feature for the twin daughters, and I had to reroll so many times until they didn't look like the female version of their father and more like their mother, because the former just looked really weird :D

This actually reminds me of a great story I heard once. So, this young, good looking couple (man and woman) enter a bar and the man happily announces they are going to get married soon. Everyone cheers the couple and the man buys a round a drinks for everyone. The man then starts bragging to the bartender about how they are going to have good looking children, because they both are so good looking. The woman appears very embarrassed from all this attention, and when the man leaves to use the restroom the bartender approaches the woman and asks if she's okay. The woman admits to the bartender that the man has no idea that before they met, she had extensive plastic surgery to look this way. Her teeth, nose, chin, body, almost everything is fake. Therefore, the children are probably not going to look anything like he thinks they will, and she doesn't have the heart to warn him.

So, you could think of it like that; maybe one of the parents doesn't actually look like they appear.

It used to happen to me all the time in sims 2 and I was very happy o use "plastic surgery" in sims 3. now in 4, I would "tweek" his looks. I think you can do it when changing outfits or something.

However, part of the fun is not to have control over things, so unless he looks abnormal and not proportioned, I would keep him the same. it won't affect how "attractive" he is to others... or would it?! :|

I had a rule when I first started my legacy, that I would always keep their appearance as authentic as possible. I'm on gen 27 now, and this is the first generation where I've broken my rule. I've had a few iffy ones before, and I've found that make-up, and a hairstyle that suits their features is actually really good - it helps them look waaay better from a distance, and their offspring have been fine again. This one sim I have at the moment ended up with the biggest nose I've ever seen (his dad was a random sim I downloaded from the gallery to make into a townie - he didn;t look like he had a massive nose until his son was born :/ ), but my sim grew up to a teen and boy, it was huge! It was just really offputting to play with him, so I did end up using cas.fulleditmode to shrink his nose to a more proportioned size :D I still have pangs of guilt, but he does look much better :# :# :#

@Misslizard Are these the kids you first told us about, with the small eyes and the platinum blonde hair? Well, I've had something similar happen with me. I thought I'd have the most ravishing-looking boy when my gorgeous sim couple had him. I even named him Beau. And then he aged up. Tsk tsk tsk. I clicked on a mirror and selected "Change Sim" to see what type of damage control was possible. The interesting thing was that he didn't even inherit his mother's or his father's eyes and nose. They were completely random! I fixed him up by giving him his mother's eyes, his father's nose, and a new haircut. Technically not cheating, because he looked like neither of his parents from the get go ?

Tbh, Joaquin doesn't really make good looking offspring, his own features are too unique for that.
As for Don's offspring, don't count on it either. I once did a 100 baby challenge with him and maybe like 20 of them looked nice, the others were okay or less than that.

In my game I usually have my female sims go for Salim Benali from City Living because I've always liked how he looks. His children look NOTHING like the mother or him. They look like they've been adopted! Most of the time, ( No offence ) But his children are very pudgy and wrinkly ;~;
I never thought children could look this way.
