Something recent that happened was I wanted my sim to go somewhere, and it was during a thunderstorm. I do understand why sims don't want to be outside during something like this, but mine earned the nitwit title when she got to where I wanted her to go (it was quite some distance) only for her to keep insisting to go back inside her home. All she had to do was make one step more and that would have been that but no. I had to cancel this interaction three times before she would finally listen to me.
Yes, this one takes a little patience! I'm very leery of lightning, so I'm glad my Sims are sensible about it, and I don't send them outside if I can help it. However, when you have a day-long thunderstorm and you're playing off-the-grid with an outhouse, there's a point at which it's absolutely necessary, and I can't let the llamas and cows starve in a stinky barn.
What drives me up a wall is when they decide to do things outside that they can do inside. I click on a chair, tell my Sim to sit there, and then have them read a book in their inventory, do cross stitch from the inventory, or knit. They immediately get up and go out into the thunderstorm to sit in a chair outside. I've actually had to lock the door to keep them inside.
