My sims are obsessed with wall speakers.

Since the eco lifestyle patch my sims are all obsessed with wall speakers. I can't take them anywhere that has wall speakers without them all congregating around the speaker to dance like possessed energetic maniacs. It was driving me absolutely crazy to the point that I had to ban all autonomous dancing with mccc for now. Obviously this is not a permanent solution. Is anybody else having this issue? I really hope it will be recognized and fixed in the near future. My sims like to dance sometimes, I feel mean banning it. :D

  • Geh. I'll have to watch out for that. :|

Why do Sims have to gather around anything to dance? Why can't they just dance? I hate the DJ booth for that reason, they always get all up on it with their phones in the air like tech zombies hording around the DJ for the kill. It drives me nuts.

It's worse for me at the gyms. My sims will be trying to exercise on a treadmill and at the same time they're surrounded by other sims dancing like they're at a nightclub. The yoga club is meant to be a chill nice peaceful vibe but it's anything but that with sims all crowded round the mats dancing like crazed idiots. It's actually really immersion breaking for me. When I take my sims for a chill afternoon of peace and tranquility at the yoga studio and some idiot sims are all crowded round dancing in the middle of the class it ruins the whole vibe.

  • This has always been a problem in my games. Wherever you put a wall speaker on the wall sims just congregate there to dance. Gyms, at home, bars, shops. Those wall speakers are there for listening to music, not for my sims to act like a fool. It would be nice if dancing at wall speakers got entirely nerfed from the game unless there's also a dance floor present for sims to dance on so we as a player get to decide where it makes sense in our builds for sims to spontaneously bust out their dance moves.

Maybe the best solution is to just not use wall speakers in places I don't want crazy dancing sims everywhere? It seems weird in gyms to not have background music though. At least my sims will still be able to dance at the suitable venues this way. :/

  • God, this game design is so frustrating sometimes. It's like, why do all music types instigate the exact same behavior from Sims? Why aren't music styles recognized so they don't get up and dance to softer stations? Unless it's some kind of bug. (One can only hope.)

That's exactly what I've been doing.

And that's how I feel about that too :/

  • I have a relaxation area with a wall speaker playing New Age, and they get up and dance to it instead of chilling to it.
  • I am not sure this will fix the problem or not. What wall speaker are you using? They have different fun ratings. One called Cafe is meant for public venues. (the debug one) Anyway, I think it was the outdoor one that has a high fun rating. It is a Sim magnate. I noticed the fun rating was higher. I stick with the base game one I think. I don't have my game open so I can't look. Also, if you see your Sims getting Eco points from dancing it is a N.A.P. making them dance. I turned them off but my Sims still get points with anything to do with gardening. In my game NAPS still pass and go into effect even when the Eco stuff is turned off. Another thing to fix I guess. The game generated the green gardening one and that's when my garden started reverting back to just planted.
  • I might be remembering wrong, but I think once I caught my sim dancing to the Talk radio station and that is just wacky.

@LiELF that's one way for sims to get DJ skills. Also, I think geeking out over DJs is a Euro thing IRL, so it is a thing
