I have an alien couple who are dating and recently moved in together. The guy was the result of an abduction, so he's spent his whole life on Earth (or wherever sims live), and his girlfriend is an alien he met on his first visit to Sixam using his adoptive father's rocket. They story behind them is that, basically, they ended up together not just because they like each other, but because they want to learn from each other. She's going to teach him all about aliens, and he's going to teach her all about sims. At some point, they'll have kids and they'll take them all to Sixam so they can learn about their heritage.
I'm not sure what type of pet I would give them, but the house they live in is a normal-looking house in Windenburg.
Aliens can be a lot of fun, although most of them end up being just townies or interesting neighbors in my game. I think the most played ones in my game are always space changelings, aka results of abduction.
This corner of the Oasis Springs is mostly alien builds (not all, of course), so figured I'd just take a quick grab of that and then list build-and-creator names so you can look them up in the gallery if you're interested. Modern Alien House NoCC by KaruPlays, Sixam Spaceship by mszar7, AlienHaus by Daniel_SimFansDE, Eco Alien Starter by gothkittymimi -- basically if you're looking for lots, just do a search with 'alien' and you'll find amazing amount of great lots for aliens! I don't use custom content, so all of these houses are cc-free as well.
I have aliens who wear just alien outfits and are adamant about being who they truly are, then I have aliens who have become sort of hybrid, still non-human skin tones and hair colours, but otherwise dressing and looking like humans, and then of course the ones who wear a full disguise all the time. Also some ghost aliens at Spaceship, died in a ship crash. I also have a scientist who cloned a couple of aliens, and they live with her.
I have an alien genetacy going, so I started with an alien couple. She's in my avatar. I mostly play them like regular sims though I get a lot of use out of the inspect personality power or whatever it's called!

If you need good alien clothes, City Living added a ton of very geometric looking outfits that are sharp and angular that would work extremely well on an alien.

This! I was going to suggest this, too. City Living, Get Famous, and Spooky Stuff have some great clothes for Aliens. Geometric patterns and clothes with "glowy" or fluorescent colors are something I use for my Aliens frequently. Here are a few of my own that I'm putting behind spoilers so the pics don't dominate the thread...

Here is D'Ni's travel companion, Rom-ULAS, the robotic feline. I wanted him to look like he was lit up underneath the robotic plates, so I just traced the lines with a light blue. This Alien, Qhawa, I made to join a group for a Selvadoradan adventure. In her human disguise (not pictured) she looks like a beautiful local native, and her part in my story was to be the exotic pathfinder and lore teller. But secretly she's a guardian for the ancient Alien temple, there to spy on anyone who seeks to uncover the mysteries and steal the treasures and magical items that belong to her people, and sabotage their mission. I chose the cat-eared hair for her because I thought it was amusing to think that one of the ancient secrets was that cats came from the Aliens too, from somewhere out in the great Beyond, and are superior beings. It's an ongoing theme in my games. :D So I chose styles that reflected the flora of the area for camouflage, plus some that hint at the strangeness of being from a completely different planet. https://i.imgur.com/MBJjRZb.jpg
Finally, this is Ti'Ana, a young colonist, sent to mingle into Sim society and observe. She's still learning how to dress in order to blend, and some of her styles come from Alien materials so they have a natural phosphorescence. I chose a "bug green" color scheme for her because I thought it was a good way to portray that.
