Need to make the voidcritters playable for adults too

I'm about to turn aging off in my game because I have a child sim who looooves voidcritters and she's about to age up. I'm going to be really sad when she can't play with them anymore. It doesn't make sense that teens who are childish or geeky can't keep playing. I would happily give her one of those traits when she ages up if it meant that she didn't have to give up her hobby. Hopefully there will be a mod sometime to fix this!
