Neighborhoods - How does it work?

I read a lot of times that open neighborhoods in TS4 are impossible to implement, but several times I noticed in my game that all (non active) lots are fully furnished also. Due to that I totally don't understand why the loading screens between lots are needed. How does it work? If we can not enter non active lots, why are they fully furnished then? Before I noticed that, I thought that only objects outside the house are visible.

I heard about the games which have been completely changed after the patches. Should I assume that EA wants to recreate The Sims, and makes the lots open?

Personally I dream of open neighborhoods because at the moment I don't visit some lots because i feel that it's a waist of time. For example Ward Park in Del Sol Valley. Excause me, but what is that? This lot is fully visible everytine you visid another community lot in that area, but you can not enter this lot and your sim always goes around that Park instead of goes across the fully visible park.

  • I would be happy just to see my sim's neighbors coming and going from their homes, having visitors, or using the objects on their property.
It would help to make the neighborhood feel more alive. The townies-on-parade for no apparent reason doesn't do it for me.
  • I can understand why they can't load an entire world in one go, but it does baffle me why they can't load one neighbourhood completely.

Like you say, you can see the lot there - like Ward Park - and it has everything in it. Also, some of the worlds have quite large areas where sims can roam about and yet they can't visit a lot right in the middle of that area without the loading screen.

It is very frustrating. I wish they would at least give us an explanation.
  • It's because TS4 was designed as an MMO. You'd have to load each lot individually, with the surrounding area being the "lobby".

It'ld be so cool if they could open the neighbourhoods... but sims' autonomy has to be better, other sims should be doing meaningful stuff...
  • 100% get the individual neighborhoods, loading an entire city would be fairly so-so. Thought the loading each lot was a little wild, but it makes for much of a smooth video game. Choppy games are not O.K. Because of great content, even if the content is great, it will confuse me, the graphics get jarring, has the task processed yet? E.T.C. Bless the easy see task bar.

I've made outtings better meaningful. My sims often don't have things like P.C.s or this play ground for their kids, money or because I want sims to have to visit away from home. My sims visit the library, my sims use the computers or read, while their kids may be in a club meeting to play. Averagely, I get all of them practicing skills and making friends.
