The Handy reward trait allows your Sim to instantly repair objects and instantly apply all upgrades. Quite a bit faster than the normal process, although that's still available, with no risk of failure. You might still want to use the normal repair command to gain more skill, since you can complete the aspiration without maxing the skill. You also might want to use the normal upgrade commands to control which upgrades you get, especially if you have Eco Lifestyle. I don't usually want composting toilets and fuel-cell powered appliances.
@Handel You could build the rocket on the lot next door. That's what I did so my Sim could eat a grilled cheese sandwich in space. You'll even save 5000 simoleons since you don't have to pay for the kit.
