Never Forget! (Cats & Dogs Edition Sims 1 to Sims 4 Comparison)

It is quite sad to be honest that a pack completely dedicated to just cats and dogs didn't even come with an outdoor house for them or proper beds like the ones in TS3 and TS2.

Well, maybe these are for the indoor pets. We'll probably get proper beds for barn dogs and cats later, with a country/farming EP. Those beds are so uncomfortable looking that even my in game dog refuses to use and prefers to sleep directly on the floor.

Yeah, I have been saying this for a while, but 4 (even including MFP) has the worst pet pack to date. Absolute disappointment.

@crocobaura that is absolutely no excuse. Even if they didn't want to put houses because they think cats and dogs are indoor pets they should have created more indoor pet beds like they did in previous games, with different styles and characteristics. And even if they wanted to put only two beds they should have made a greater effort and not make the beds look like pieces of paper.
I don't want to buy another 40$ pack for more beds.

I don't want to buy another 40$ pack for more beds.

Maybe if we start an online petition they will improve them in a patch as it looks like an easy fix to give them some thickness but the kittens are so tiny they might sink into them. I think I saw the TS2 ones made as CC for TS4, not sure if they will protect from rain or cold if used outside.

I'm thinking they might not care since the pack is pretty old and they got their money's worth out of it. But it would have been great to have better beds in the Sims 4 like that. This is one of my most major turn offs from Cats and Dogs which is sad because I really liked the CAS.

I have a whole bunch of cc pet beds that people have made (some are converted from previous Sims games) because of how pathetic looking those flat ugly things are. You'd think the Sims creators would have been embarrassed to release such pathetically low quality stuff in a 4th generation game expansion pack, but nope, here we are... with flat squares and circles that make the graphics in the 20 year old Sims 1 game look like something out of a 24th century high-tech futuristic computer graphics card. :/

Every time I buy a pet a bed, I just imagine they're laying on paper lol it's so sad. Half the time I just forget it and let them sleep on the couch. I agree; it's weird that for a pack dedicate to cats and dogs, this accessory is poorly designed and flat.

The drop in quality plus the current ideas of the Guru's who think of animals as children instead of pets who have made it clear because that's how they feel it would be this way and they could care less players wanted dog houses. Just the comments alone from SimGuruGrant on why dogs could not have dog houses made my roll my eyes.

The guru's simply don't care and are perfectly fine sending out mediocre content like the ball pit or these flat beds that are truly a joke a real insult to people paying $40 for a expansion when we lost so much no horses no small animals no dog houses its ridiculous.

That will do nothing they don't care what we say it has been proven over and over the only people they will listen to is the game changers.

Yeah, the beds and the lack of doghouses was (and still is) really disappointing. I was just thinking about this the other day in fact! In my save the Landgraabs have two "outside" dogs (meant to be guard dogs), and I would love to have some proper doghouses for them. But alas.

What disappointed me the most, though, was some folks' (on the team) excuses as to why the beds looked the way they do, and why there weren't any doghouses. Obviously someone feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken here, but the beds were chalked up to basically "if we made them look more plush, the animations wouldn't look right, and there would be clipping issues."

In my opinion that's understandable enough, but...there could have still been a lot more effort put into the bed's designs. For example, I don't see why they couldn't have the same shape/look of them. For example, the beds with borders/walls on them from TS3 (the parts where it's raised up -- you know what I mean), or even the basket beds from TS2 (would be perfect for cats). I just feel like...for a pack that's all about cats and dogs (not even general pets like past packs), there's no excuse for the lackluster pet beds we were given. Or, excuse me, the lackluster pet beds we paid for. (Admittedly I can't say much since I was lucky enough to win the pack in a giveaway here on the forums, but most folks paid at full price, and I was prepared to pay full price, so... Yeah.)

The excuse for no doghouses was even more frustrating. Basically, "iT's , nO oNe uSeS dOgHoUsEs!!1!" Which had me (and several other forums users) absolutely reeling (and me side-eyeing my Amazon wishlist which has at least three doghouses I would love to have for my pooches someday).

Like I said. I still think about this, and still get annoyed about it. The beds from MFPS are super cute, but they're certainly not any better. The beds are hands-down (or maybe I should say paws-down) my least favorite part of this pack.
