Never have to pay bills ever?

I decided to try a rags to riches, off the grid, rental run. So I bought a plot of empty land, moved my sim in and changed the plot type to a residential rental.  Turns out, if I"m the only one living on the rental land as the owner, no matter what I build or put on the lot. My bills just read as $0 across the board. No bills, no taxes, not nothing. Even if I turn off-the-grid off, I still don't have to pay for anything. The lot gets no charges until I get a tenant.  I can't imagine this is as intended.

At any rate, what do you guys think of this. Good exploit or a bug that should be reported.

  • I have removed the link to the thread I posted as it was a link to an AHQ thread about a different issue in the game.

    @rosemow

    It does not belong there. There should be a separate report on this particular issue.

    I am sorry. It is the wrong thread that I linked to. It is a separate issue.

  • @vyvexthorne I love doing rags to riches when I take a break from my 'family' I think I may just try this and see what happens. Thanks for sharing

    It appears that it eventually will bug out when you first try to add tenants.. When I was finally able to build my first apartment to rent out, I needed to switch back to a residential lot and then back again to residential rental to get the game to recognize rental lots properly. It was giving me all sorts of weird issues before I figured that out. The main issue was that the game thought I had 4 apartments on my lot and that my property manager didn't actually live there. It was really weird. So.. no matter how you purchase the empty lot, you'll need to switch it back and forth at some point before you add tenants to get everything going properly.
